TwitchTV Coming To Xbox One In March, Launches Alongside Titanfall

TwitchTV will be patched in to Xbox One consoles on March 11th, just in time for the launch of Titanfall.

“It’s complete integration,” explained Emmett Shear, co-founder and CEO of Twitch. “It’s exciting because we’ve never had the ability to broadcast from a console like this with such a deep level of integration. The concept of being able to join a broadcasters’ party is really cool, and it’s another step in the direction of interacting more closely with broadcasters.”

The update will allow Xbox One owners to live stream video games, start game broadcasts with voice commands via Kinect, archive game clips, and join in games that are being broadcast. You will also be able to watch TwitchTV streams, including those streamed from the PlayStation 4, use the chat function and broadcast live video using Kinect.

Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s vice president of marketing and strategy for Xbox, has described the PlayStation 4 implementation of TwitchTV as “too limiting” and the delay bringing the service to Xbox One had allowed them to create “a full next-gen service.”

  1. Meeeeeow! Nice catty comment there from Yusuf Mehdi there about PS4 Twitch integration.

  2. Second positive Xbox One story..

  3. Come on Sony, your turn to improve things. There is too much missing or limited on my PS4.

  4. I agree with the PS4 Twitch (and Ustream) integration feeling a bit limited, although the title “Live from Playstation” doesn’t leave much room for expansion so we’ll probably have to make do.
I must say i’m enjoying gaming watching broadcasts on PS4 though and of course Playroom has added a whole new dimension to the console experience.

  5. I could be wrong, but im sure you can watch TwitchTV via ps4 web browser.
Only thing i can see from whats been announced about the One’s twitch is the fact it archives gameplay, that would be so handy and i would love that. people able to join my party from watching my stream would annoy me, as do constantly getting friends requests lol so not intrested in that.

im intrested to see how the app really differs when i get my hands on it, but not allot in it for me personally.

  6. Damn Yusuf Mehdi, sounds like you’re starting a cat fight ha!

  7. Yeah I see the joining in games part will be such fun for the broadcasters….. a headline feature that will be unused by 99% of people.

And Yusuf – limiting the PS4 twitch integration might seem, at least it was released on time.
