GRID: Autosport is real and Codemasters has lifted the lid on what to expect. Details from the leak such as the five styles of racing including Touring Cars, Endurance, Open-Wheel, and Street. These disciplines will also have various events within them like pure racing, time attack modes and drifting. There will also be over 100 tracks in 22 locations, such as Hockenheim, Sepang, San Francisco, Jarama and Yas Marina.
Racing will be much more sim like than arcadey, with Codemasters stating the handling will be closer to that of the original GRID than GRID 2. The career mode will allow you to switch teams and select which discipline you want to be strong in. You can choose a Touring Car career or try and compete in every style. Team-mates will also make a return, and you’ll be able to command them to attack cars or defend positions, and you can also request information from the team engineer.
Multiplayer will be handled through RaceNet and you can create Racing Clubs with friends to compete against other teams.Weekly challenges will also come through Discipline Challenges. There will be no new gen version as GRID: Autosport is releasing on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC on June 27th.

Original Story:
Codemasters are to announce GRID: Autosport for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this June, according to a post on BrazilGamer, the Brazilian arm of the Eurogamer network.
The game is said to have five styles of racing and 100 tracks spread over 22 locations, as well as full career mode, weekly challenges and raceNet leader boards. There will also be a cockpit view, night drives and “the largest amount of content” and “a truly authentic feel of the sport.”
We expect an official reveal at some point today.

I hope that ”the largest amount of content” doesnt relate to the largest amount of paid DLC like it did with Dirt 3

Agreed. Getting really fed up of paying for the same game over and over again just to ‘keep up’. On another note I guess we won’t find out if this is coming to next-gen until after they’ve sold all they can on last-gen. Kind of stinks of maximising sales potential before committing to the new format which makes it sound like its being churned out to keep the shareholders happy while in the generational shift. Guess we’ll never know. Still interested though as the single player racing on GT6 is non existent.

Huh, a previous gen release? Looks lovely though. I do wonder what Codemasters will do on the PS4, we’ll see :)
100 tracks is the most pleasing thing on here, as long as they’re interesting ones. I remember Burnout Takedown having loads of tracks but many of them were unremarkable.

Hoping for the F1 game being on next gen.

Same here, F1 2014 has got to be this gen.

Ah man, disappointed there is no current gen version. Although perhaps this is a stop gap and we’ll get a fully fledged Grid 3 for PS4 next year?
*crosses fingers*

Looks like it and I hope so!

I was excited to read “Racing will be much more sim like than arcadey” but not for long… “with Codemasters stating the handling will be closer to that of the original GRID than GRID 2”. GRID was not close enough to sim racing in my opinion. Codemaster’s racing games just drift and slide waaaaayyyy too much compared to real world racing.

I am guessing those as PC screenshots, and if it’s running on PC you have to wonder why it aint on PS4 and XB1..

Seems like a missed opportunity, even if it is a stop gap before a big Grid 3 release why not get it on as many platforms as they can? Shame. Looks good though!

I think plenty have voiced disappointment about the lack of next gen versions via social media, I do think it’s very shortsighted of Codies to have done this.
Certainly I won’t be getting this, still smarting after all the ‘extras’ for Grid 2! :(
Tomhlord
Well, this is odd. It’s Grid 1 in the Grid 2 engine, with Grid 1 handling and cars from both games. Ish.
Depends on pricing for me I think, £30+ will be too much. Strange how the game has been revealed close to release too.
However, nice to see Codemasters trying to appeal to those (like me) who found Grid 2 to be a fun arcade racer, but failing to live up to the “Grid” moniker. Online Touring Cars should be fun!

I’ll be all over those Touring cars, hoping it’s BTTC rather than WTCC and that the license has returned home to Codies, still if it’s World it’ll be a start!
Looks really promising though ;)

Disappointing.
We’ll show graphics from a high end pc and skip the PS4 and Xbone. Could have been the awesome driving game the PS4 is missing but no.
Still wishing I’d not bought the PS4 for another year. Fail.

Oh for god sake. The amount of time shown drifting cars round turns has made me stone cold. I struggled with the last GRID and this may not be much better. When do you give up on a previously loved series?
