According to the listing for Watch_Dogs on the PlayStation site Ubisoft’s open world hackathon will be running at 60 FPS and in 1080p resolution on the PS4.
The text also claims that the PS4 version has the best graphics, though we’re not yet sure what the Xbox One version will be running at. It’s a bold claim especially when Watch_Dogs Animations Director Colin Graham stated that he could not tell the difference between the two when he spoke to Videogamer.
The Xbox One version is good. I check it on the floor a lot. Animation-wise it’s identical, absolutely identical. I know people talk about that a lot… But I can’t tell the difference when I go on the floor. I have to look at the consoles because the TVs make a bigger difference in terms of what you see on somebody’s machine. Is it calibrated correctly? Is it the resolution of the TV? Which kind of TV is it? I actually can’t tell the difference on those two [consoles]. As far as I can see they’re identical.

I do so love TSA during these moments. Zero comments (ignoring mine) for the first 2 hours. IGN has over 12,000 comments of angry, argumentative people. Sure, I’d love TSA to have oodles of comments but without the anger. Websites with people mature enough to handle announcements like this are very welcome in my world. :-)

I’m very skeptical that it’s running at 60FPS on the PS4, if it actually is running at 60FPS the developer have their priorities wrong. Make the game look nicer instead.

Most likely it’s an unlocked framerate like Tomb Raider and Infamous, moving between 30 and 60.
The interesting thing is that no member of the press have made a comment on it, even after significant previews.

I found Infamous Second Son to be buttery smooth at 30fps, can’t wait to see what 60fps means for Watch Dogs.

Personally, I couldn’t give a crap with a game-type like this. I’ve played hours of GTA V and that hovers around the late twenties 90% of the time (or nudging 30 frames per second). Sixty is lovely but it does leave me thinking if there’s been a trade-off elsewhere. Sucker Punch wanted to go with 30FPS for Second Son although it’s an exclusive and there’s no comparison with an X1 or PC.
TSBonyman
I guess i can’t use them as a proper comparison but i would like to see for myself what all the fuss is about framerate.

Metal Gear Ground Zeroes is a solid 60FPS.
It’s about improved image clarity in motion, reduced input-lag and smoother animations. Personally it’s not a must-have for anything other than racers, fighters and platformers. But it is nice and prevents any frustrating or jarring slowdowns.
Infamous Second Son will, unless capped in the options, run a little above 30. Probably in the 45-30 area for most of the time.
And as Mike mentioned GTA, I agree that V is mostly fine. But IV had some awful slowdown when driving, making it more difficult then it needs be. There’s a little of this in V as well, but it’s nowhere near as jarring. A steady 30FPS is usually perfectly fine, but I don’t like it when it noticeably drops below that.

Finally taken the plunge and pre-ordered it last night, looking forward to it.
Foxhound_Solid
Yes. I’m all over this!
gaffers101
I’ve had this on order for ages. I’m so glad it’s going to be worth the wait.
DividSmythe
I’ve got preordered but it doesn’t bother me to much about all this fps and resolution to much. It’s getting quite boring now all this talk. Just enjoy your version.
beeje13
If the PS4 version is 1080p60, then the XB1 version must surely also be at 60fps?, but maybe at 900p?
Can’t see it doing a tomb raider and doing 1080p30, for me that is the most dammning of performance differences.

Just want Ubisoft to release the damn game already, i’ve felt like I’ve heard too much of Watch_Dogs now. well done Ubisoft!
