Dogecoin All-Star Car Makes It Into Nascar 14

The internet, ladies and gentlemen, is a very peculiar place. Thanks to some lunatics who are involved with Nascar, and some more lunatics who are involved with making games based on that incredibly popular motosport, everyone’s favourite Shiba Inu and the currency she inspired are now painted on one of the speedy mechanical rubber-shredding machines and featuring in the digital simulation of that sport.

Dogecoin is a peer-to-peer digital currency which makes full use of the “Doge” internet meme in which a loveable Shiba Inu is pictured with some colourful interior monologue captions floating around her, written in the affront to typography that is Comic Sans.

The currency was used by Reddit members to fund underdog Josh Wise’s No.98 Chevrolet which failed to obtain sponsors for many races. The car wrap features the meme and the currency prominently and has inspired Wise to become something of a champion for the Nascar fans, new and old, on Reddit.

His most recent triumph was to be voted into the All-Star race at Charlotte Motor Speedway this past weekend where he finished 15th. To commemorate the event, and to celebrate the game’s release in the UK for PS3 and Xbox 360 this past Friday, Eutechnyx has sent over a screengrab of the internet-famous All-Star car from the game.
