Bloodborne Will Transport You To The Cursed City Of Yharnam, Details Revealed

Earlier some screens for Bloodborne were released and now details about the game’s story have been revealed by From Software, detailing the city of Yharnam that PS4 players will be trying to survive in when it releases in 2015. The first thing revealed by the developer is that Yharnam is a gothic city filled with terror thanks to a disease that is making the inhabitants crazy, and due to monsters appearing to cause more suffering.

Hidetaka Miyazaki has spoken about the development:

“Creating Bloodborne as a completely new game on the new PlayStation 4 hardware has allowed us to really push the envelope in myriad ways. That being said, in more ways than one, it also very much retains our distinct, signature style. As has been at the core of our development philosophy since Demon’s Souls, we make true games for people who love games. Please watch for more to come on Bloodborne, and thank you very much for your support.”

The city was actually a pilgrimage location as people thought it would be the last bastion to hold out against the horror affecting the rest of the world, and your character is one of those travelling pilgrims who thought as much. In the city you’ll have to fight the monsters and mobs that have lost their minds. The game’s combat has taken some inspiration from Demon’s Souls in that it will require strategy, but movement will be faster as you use melee weapons and guns to fend off attackers. New lighting techniques will also be used to increase the tension players will feel.

  1. Hoping for plenty of character customisation ala Demon’s Souls.

  2. “Bloodborne Will Transport You To The Cursed City Of Yharnam” – only if I buy the game, and that’s not something I’m planning on doing.

  3. Think I’m going to use this title to try the genre again.

  4. Love the souls games. Sony must have thrown a big bag of money at them to get this exclusive.

    • Doubt it, they did demon’s soul on exclusive on ps with Sony funding so probably same situation plus that was the game most people heard of from them & put them on the map

      • Come off it! Ignoring ps3/360 with install bases of over 150 million to release on a new console with less than 10% of the install base?

      • I’m not so sure, demon’s souls was part developed and published by playstation (might have already been in the deal to do another game?) And launching purely on ps4 is probably the most cost effective choice for a new ip like bloodborne. Just one, easy platform to develop and test for. The install base will be around 15m by the time it launches, and some will even buy a ps4 purely for this game I would imagine.

To be clear, I would rather this be on X1 aswell, but I wouldn’t say ‘Sony threw money at them’ a la titanfall.

      • Oh, forgot to mention, people who have bought the new consoles are likely to be more ‘active’ gamers who on avergage buy more games. Not all those 150m are still in use or are being bought games for.

Exaample, Watch dogs has sold more on PS4 than X1,360, PS3 combined.
