Earlier today it was confirmed that Microsoft would be shedding 18,000 jobs across various divisions, and now the company has confirmed that Xbox Entertainment Studios will be among the affected. The studio has been working on exclusive Xbox programming including the likes of Halo: Nightfall & the series that will also follow the franchise. However the status of Quantum Break, which is supposed to tie in with the game, so far remains unclear.
Microsoft has declined to comment on whether Quantum Break’s live action segments are/were connected to Xbox Entertainment Studios.

Phil Spencer wrote the following about the situation in an email to the employees at the company.
I am pleased that Nancy, Jordan and members of the XES team remain committed to new, original programming already in production like the upcoming documentary series ‘Signal to Noise’ whose first installment takes on the rise and fall of gaming icon Atari and of course, the upcoming game franchise series ‘Halo: Nightfall,’ and the ‘Halo’ Television series which will continue as planned with 343 Industries.
Xbox will continue to support and deliver interactive sports content like ‘NFL on Xbox,’ and we will continue toenhance our entertainment offering on console by innovating the TV experience through the monthly console updates.
So it looks like Microsoft has put future ideas for exclusive programming on hold, while Sony creates its own with series like Powers.
