Shadow of Mordor is a great looking game. And, alongside other new generation games – such as inFamous Second Son and The Last of Us: Remastered – it now has a photo mode, so you can create your own screenshots with added filters and altered effects.
On PS4, this is perfectly fine as you can then remove the UI by clicking the left stick, edit your photo, and then simply hit the Share button to send your photo directly to Facebook or Twitter, or even copy it on a memory stick. Currently though, Xbox One doesn’t support screenshots natively so users are finding themselves in a bit of a pickle. Reddit user BillionthHippo explains:
I just tried to take a photo and it looks like the option is not even included. You can set up a nice image and then remove the UI, (which seems perfect for PS4’s screenshot feature) but there is no button that snaps the photo. So far, this seems like a feature for PS4 that is in this Xbox version for no good reason whatsoever.
A bit of an oversight then, but one that thankfully has a (bit of a contrived) workaround. You’ll have to say “Xbox Record That”, head over to xboxclips.com, find your video, and take a screenshot of the bit you had recorded. At least, that’s until the screenshot functionality is added, which should hopefully be soon.
