Podcast: Episode 171 – Whiplash, Life is Strange and Shadow of Mordor

Our magical mystery tour of guests continues this week as we’re joined by Carl Lipscombe. If you’re not familiar with Carl, he’s the founder of the Robot Punch gaming podcast and my little brother, better known as “mini-mini-Lipscombe” to long time fans of the podcast.

Carl’s contribution to the podcast is a bit of chat about Dontnod’s new episodic title Life is Strange, a game that I really want to try out now. Lewis is also here to tell us about the film Whiplash, which sounds brilliant, and to finally discuss Shadow of Mordor with Kev. Yes, we’ve been hyping the showdown for weeks now, but these two are finally ready to butt heads over Monolith’s Middle-earth based game.

Beyond that, we’ve also got this week’s news, a very good quiz, and the answers to your questions.

  • Please send us questions via email to podcasts[at]thesixthaxis.com.
  • You can also tweet questions to @TSAPodcast.

This podcast features strong language, jokes in poor taste and adult themes, if you’re offended by that then we recommend that you don’t listen to it at all.

  • As usual, you can grab the MP3 file here (right click to download).
  • You might want to get it (when the RSS catches us) on the RSS feed, here.
  • We’re on iTunes, when iTunes feels like updating. You can also leave us a review and subscribe there, if you want to be particularly lovely.
  • Or, if SoundCloud’s more your sort of thing, we now post the podcast over there too, which you can see embedded below.
  • Finally, the podcast now appears on Stitcher as well.

  1. Shadow Of Mordor is very much like Assassin’s Creed, but in a good way.
less of the bugs but all the fun stuff.
the combat is more like the Batman games, but everything else is AC.

i gotta side with Kev, i really liked the game.
and the combat is just like the Batman games.
though i agree with Kris that the game would be better if it had Batman. ^_^

  2. Well, I think the points for WiiU are quite accurate, when it would be me buying a Nintendo console. Fun games and backgen compatibility.

Congrats Kev, on buying Driveclub. It’s a fantastic racing game. The graphics are lovely, but on top of that the racing is really fun and the online community/multiplayer is great.

What kind of podcast do you listen to Kris o0? Parenting?! Do you have a girlfriend and I missed that?

I’m not really into TellTale games, such as TWD or TWAU, so I will pass on this one as well. Just not my type of game.

I think there hasn’t been a game talked about this much as Shadow of Mordor :P The talk got me really thinking about the game and I feel like really buying it, just to get my opinion on it.

Yes, this quiz is far more funnier than the last one, which was hard as hell :P Really better to do this this way.
