Disney Infinity 2.0 Second Wave Rolls Out This Week

Disney Interactive has revealed the contents of its Disney Infinity 2.0 Toy Box Starter Pack as well as its upcoming range of “Disney Originals” range figures, all of which will be available as of this Friday.

Unlike the Marvel Super Heroes Starter Pack, which launched back in September, this latest release focuses on iconic Disney characters and settings. Both old and new, these include Stitch and Merida, as well as Maleficent, Donald Duck, Aladdin, Jasmine, Tinkerbell, and the stars of “Big Hero Six”, Hiro and Baymax. All are compatible with Disney 2.0’s current Toy Box content.

“It’s important for us to offer Disney fans an alternative entry point to the Disney Infinity sequel this holiday season, and the Disney Infinity: Toy Box Starter Pack is a great way for fans to experience the game and the new Toy Box 2.0,” said John Blackburn, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Disney Infinity.

The starter pack itself is launching on all major consoles and will feature both Stitch and Merida as well as the game software and all the accessories needed to play. One thing it won’t include, however, is a “Playset”. These are essentially themed campaigns, granting players access to a new open world and string of missions. Since 2.0’s launch there have been new playsets for both Spider-Man and The Guardians of the Galaxy. With that said, the pack will come with two Toy Box “Game Discs” that offer more condensed, challenge-based gameplay.

Without any form of traditional, story-driven single player content, this alternate entry point is largely focused on 2.0’s revised Toy Box, as the name suggests. Here users can create and share their own inventions using the vast array of tools on offer.

Back in September we scored Disney Infinity 2.0 an impressive 7/10. Though not quite as impactful as last year’s instalment, it was solid nonetheless and, more importantly, succeeded in wowing its target audience thanks to an onslaught of Marvel-themed content.
