Square Enix hasn’t given an indication of around when to expect the game, only commenting that there will be more news in the coming months.

  1. the previous Dragon Quest games weren’t full scale, large RPGs?

anyway, glad to hear it’s making it’s way westward.

    • The wording on the blog post is slightly different and makes all the difference … it says ‘…full scale action rpg’. This isn’t a traditional turn based DQ game, it’s actually a crossover between DQ and the Warriors games (e.g. Dynasty Warriors).

      • Watched a bit of live streaming last night and the combat looks very Dynasty Warriors like.
Not played any DQ games but this seemed to have a bit of a Dark Chronicle (how I loved that game) feel to it to my mind.
I’m looking forward to seeing some reviews on this.

      • Having watched some people streaming it, I’m more interested now. As far as I can tell, it’s not really an “action RPG”. And it’s not your typical musou game either.

Looks more like one of the Warriors games with very nice cartoony graphics and a lot more RPG elements on top. And possibly lets you switch between 4 characters during fights. Let’s hope it’s not like Samurai Warriors 4 which did that with 2 characters, but stupidly used the “options” button to switch, which is a pain to do in the middle of a battle.

Also, excitable Japanese people must always use a microphone while streaming. I’ve no idea what they’re saying, but it’s cute and hilarious.

      • oh, now that i can see.

i thought it had a bit of a Dynasty Warriors Vibe to it.
