If you’re anticipating the release of Sony’s PlayStation Now service, then you might be able to get there quicker than anyone else, as the private beta launches this spring.
This particular beta is exclusive to PS4 owners who subscribe to PlayStation Plus, and if you fit into that category then you should register to become a beta participant over here.
If you don’t fit into that category, then you should still register as players wishing to take part in later phases of the beta will be informed at a later date if they sign up.
PlayStation Now will allow you to stream PS3 games directly on your PS4, so it’s a good shout if you missed out on some of last generation’s greats. Games in the private beta will Uncharted 2, The Last of Us, God of War Ascension, Rayman Legends, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, Saints Row: The Third, Just Cause 2, The Walking Dead, and Dirt 3.

It says destination not found for the link.
It’ll be interesting to see how well the gaming experience holds up with the relatively low speeds of UK Internet
Stefan L
That was a little odd, but it should be fixed now.
In terms of quality, they recommend a minimum of 5mbps, which is within reach of a large proportion of the populace. Certainly, anyone on fibre will be laughing, but 5-8mbps still quite reliably deliver 720p with a decent bitrate.

It doesn’t need a stupidly fast connection, does it? 5Mbit or so?
And the average speed in the UK is more than 3 times that. Faster than in the US where it’s already launched.
And yes, I know some people get less than that average. Sometimes a lot less. But if your internet speeds are slower than that minimum requirement, you’ve probably got bigger worries anyway. You’re probably still waiting for the firmware updates to download. ;)
But most people should be able to get a fast enough connection.

I was thinking more of the reliability of the connection and therefore the response time from controller input. I know when I use Remote Play, even though that’s on the same Wifi network I still experience slight lag, and dip in visual quality.
Maybe it’s just me…

All signed up!

Sony should be very much applauded for going ahead with this. They’ve had a torrid few years with the much publicized two major hacks and they must be under a barrage of attacks every day. Opening up more network and basing their business going forward on this platform could be a major breakthrough, but I do worry about the fragile nature of the network and their reputation.

two hacks? The PSN hack had been pretty much been downgraded to a storm in a teacup these days, as nothing ever appeared online and no card details were even compromised, it’s increasingly likely nothing was ever actually taken…

Thanks for the info. I’ll just go and sign up.

Signed up for this…. hopefully it’ll give my 160Mb/s connection a bit of a work out :)

Took the exam and signed up, although my broadband is down towards the lower limits of what’s required.

Signed up, but like most folk it’s going to come down to Internet speeds. I hope they have GT6 on the list as it’s the only GT game I’ve missed.

*GT6 in list when PS Now goes live, or even open beta.
