Gravity Rush Remastered Listed For PlayStation 4

The Korean ratings board has listed Gravity Rush Remastered for PlayStation 4, a game that Sony have yet to announce.

The orginal title is one of the best games on PS Vita but with low sales of the consoles, Kat and friends may not have had the impact Sony had wanted. The last we heard of the franchise, over a year ago, was the announcement of what we assumed was to be Gravity Rush 2.

The trailer includes the words “Fall again”, which could mean a sequel or a remaster. The best news would be that the Remaster is followed by a sequel on both PS4 and PS Vita, but at the moment Sony are being rather vague, the trailer does not specifically mention a sequel.

  1. Yet another Remaster, it’s getting silly now – and yet another reason not to buy a Vita. Doubt we’ll even see a second Gravity Rush game on Vita now, or anything that isn’t a JRPG.

    • But on the plus side, those who have no interest in a Vita (like me) finally get to see what all the fuss was about with this game. :)

    • Bloody hell, that was exactly what I was going to say. Yet another PS4 remaster, yet another betrayal of Vita, and yet again Sony being douches. These snippets of Vita related news just get more and more frustrating.

    • In the video it says “A new project” which is a bit confusing to say the least. Surely NOT a remaster. :-\

      • The video is the trailer for Gravity Rush 2, not the remaster of the original.

      • And your evidence for this is? The trailer is labelled as GR2, but try and find it called that on any official Sony upload. Cos it’s not. People just assumed that’s what it was. They may be wrong.

Also note they (the developers) have never, ever called it that..

“The team is preparing and the systems are being put in place for the next title, and things are going smoothly. 2014 seems to be a year that will be dedicated to production in earnest, but I’ll work hard to meet everyone’s expectations.””

Next title. Never been called Gravity Rush 2.

Another update just seaid there was “Intense production on the game”.

      • For fuck sake what do you expect me to be. The video says Gravity Rush 2, and YOU implied it was GR2 http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2013/09/19/gravity-rush-2-confirmed/ so I logically concluded it was GR2. Pardon me for believing in games journalism.

      • Ah, apologies. So Gravity Rush 2 is coming out on just the Vita (?). I don’t follow games on the platform as the Vita doesn’t interest me.

      • Avenger – yes I did. Which is why the post above says “The last we heard of the franchise, over a year ago, was the announcement of what we assumed was to be Gravity Rush 2.”

Note the word assumed – everyone thought it was Gr2, including us.

As we know have a leak of Remastered, it could be everyone’s assumptions are wrong, and looking back no one has ever officially said it IS GR2, which is what I was trying to explain in the post.

        OK?

      • Just don’t go asking me things like ‘and your evidence for this is?’. I just take the video and news at face value. I really don’t expect to debate over finer details in the comments section as I’m not the game journalist!

      • TC pretty much got embarrassed there. “where’s your evidence?” Errr the article you posted and stated the sequel had been confirmed by Sony. Sometimes a apology and a little humility is all that’s needed.

  2. Gravity Rush is an amazing game.

It wouldn’t be as good on a home console though- the Vita’s use of accelerometer and motion control actually works because the screen moves with the controller. It’s never fun to use six axis controls in home console games though.

    • I disagree. I think there’s a place for motion sensor controls as an addition to conventional methods. It’s just that not many are experimenting with it to discover great uses. Flower and a few Wii/Wii U games like Galaxy 2 are proof of thst.

  3. Next up: Killzone Mercenary HD. It’s bound to happen.

    • I actually thought that was rumoured to be happening. Although I could well be making that up! :/

  4. @Kennykazey

You’re probably right. It looks like the want to give the best titles from the Vita an extra chance and I think it’s understandable. However, I can’t really see them working around the “hold the vita towards a light source” situation in Uncharted: Golden Abyss.

As for Gravity Rush it was originally a PS3 game but I guess the moved it to the Vita in order to have more games ready at launch (or launch window). Personally I love it but I have to disagree about the notion that it’s perfect for the Vita. Most of the controls would be better on DS4 and the twisting and turning the Vita for the gravity, was downright annoying in my opinion.

Besides, Sony have several times stated that they won’t be making any more high budget games for the Vita. In other words, it is unlikely that GR2 will be for the Vita.

Furthermore, the director (or whatever his position was) said something in an interview about “…people will soon see why it has taken so long…” with the title. Even if he didn’t state that it was GR 2, it does seem like an indication of a sequel, and not a remaster. The latter is probably the reason the delay in the sequel. A sequel I think will launch simultaneously with the remaster.

  5. My issue is not that Gravity Rush is not an awesome game (it is) but why are we getting so many last gen remasters. They are still amazing games at their own value now. Stinks of cash cow over and over again. Go back and remaster proper old games please – not ones that are a couple of years old

    • For the most part I agree with you, but when it’s a proper cross platform remaster (don’t think this came out on anything other than the Vita?), I am ok with it. In fact, I am pretty pleased to hear this.

Means that me with no Vita gets to play Vita only game that everyone seemed to rave about. Yay!

    • I think it must comes down to whether or not you’ve played these games originally. I remember people complaining about the PS2 hd remasters last gen but I didn’t mind them because I hadn’t played a lot of them. Now I’m complaining about all the PS3 remasters because I’ve already played them all and I’d rather they focused their efforts on a new project instead. It’s great if you missed them first time round though.

  6. Shouldn’t this be compatible with the PS Vita TV in the first place? I did enjoy Gravity Rush on the Vita and i’d bet it’d look good on the big screen. It’s looking like the Vita TV is nothing more than a gimmick and a waste of money, which is a shame as it has a lot of potential.
