Star Ocean 5: Integrity & Faithlessness Announced For PS4 & PS3

Square Enix and tri-Ace have confirmed that Star Ocean 5 is in development, and will have the subtitle of Integrity and Faithlessness. The newest addition to the series appears to be a PlayStation exclusive, coming to both PS3 and PS4. That could be considered a bit of a surprise since ‘Star Ocean: The Last Hope’ released on Xbox 360 as well as the PS3.

Star Ocean 5 is set on the planet of Feycreed which is 6000 light years away from Earth, and three characters have been confirmed so far. These are Fedel Camus, the protagonist, who has skills in fencing, Miki Sorvesta, a childhood friend of Fedel who she sees as an older brother, and Lilia who seems to have amnesia. Battles will be in real time, with attacks changing depending on the distance between your party and the enemy.

Star Ocean 5 will apparently be looking to Star Ocean 3 for cues on how to make latest game fun for players. The development team is also considering not to have post release story DLC.

  1. Never heard of Star Ocean.

For some reason, whenever I see the word ‘Ocean’ in a computer game I just instantly think back to the Speccy days and Daley Thompson’s Decathlon. It must be because it was developed by Ocean. The fact I remember this and I was about 7 years old is weird. All down to the power of a logo I guess.

  2. I hope it is more in the vein of Til The End Of Time rathe than The Last Hope. Either way, excited to see more JRPG’s. Happy days.

  3. well, that’s a surprise.
i thought because Tri-Ace were bought by a mobile company recently they would be concentrating on mobile games.
but a new Star Ocean game is welcome.
i’ve played a few of the others in the series and enjoyed them.

  4. Last Hope was good but damn that was a huge game. About 600 hours to platinum if I remember correctly? Not that I got close to it.
