In a move that should surprise no-one, Sony have followed Microsoft’s temporary Xbox One price cut in the UK with a temporary price for the PlayStation 4.

However, retailers are discounting the console even further with Amazon, Tesco and Argos offering the console for £289. GAME are also selling the console at that price but will chuck in a copy of Minecraft , whilst GameStop UK seem to have the best deal with a PS4 and a copy of LittleBigPlanet 3 for £288.
The PlayStation 4 will be discounted until April 28th, so you will have to be quick.

My local Game store has an offer of a PS4 with Minecraft for £289.99., Doesn’t say whether it’s a new one or 2nd hand though.

Am I the only one who is surprised at this? The PS4 has continued to sell superbly despite MS past promotions on the X1. Didn’t think they needed to drop the price yet at all.

They don’t need to, but they don’t want to be beaten in salesnumbers for that period of time even if they’ll win in the long run. It’s a form of corporate vanity, I suppose.

Compare the prices of the PS4 with the PS3 and you’ll get an idea of how comparatively cheap the new consoles are to manufacture. It also really proves that this is the weakest and cheapest console-generation yet.
I wish they’d make a premium model with backwards compatibility. I’d pay up.
