The writing has been on the wall for Silent Hills ever since Konami and Kojima decided to throw their toys out of the pram and now it is official, development on the game will not continue. Konami have released the following statement to Kotaku:
Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic ‘Silent Hills’ project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued.
In terms of Kojima and Del Toro being involved, discussions on future Silent Hill projects are currently underway, and please stay tuned for further announcements.
Del Toro was on-board due to Kojima’s involvement, and as his tenure at Konami is looking shaky past the release of MGSV I wouldn’t hold out much hope for the pair to work on another game, at least not at Konami.
This is the second Del Toro game to be cancelled, the first being InSANE, which was in development at THQ before they went bust.

Indeed, Konami sucks.
Absolute morons and utter pricks for showing such contempt for their employees and their customers. I don’t know one gamer who wasn’t looking forward to this game.

Congrats, Konami! You have just buried yourself! Without Kojima and Del Toro, your two hopes at making a crap load of money every year or every other year has gone out of the window. Shame as i have yet to play a game that makes me truely **** my pants amd i suspect Silent Hills would have been the game to do it. Looks like my last Konami game will be Phantom Pain although that means little as i pretty much only own MGS regarding my collection and Konami. Oh and Castlevania lords of Kratos.

Ok that’s it, Konami now NEED to explain themselves. They can’t just continue naming cancellations and developer breakups whilst keep skipping into the sunset ignorantly. It doesn’t work like that in the Internet age, people demand answers.
Konami needs to start respecting its fans and explain what’s going
