A group of PlayStation Plus members are reporting that they have lost access to the Sony service and all affiliated content over the past few days, despite being told by support representatives that their accounts are all valid and have not expired. Issues first arose a few days ago with more and more people saying they can’t access any of their digital content, with a thread on the PlayStation community site at 49 pages at time of writing.
A couple of users including David White have got in touch with TheSixthAxis about this problem, providing further details.
It messed up for me on the 30th. Just came back from a birthday lunch so thought it was something to do with my birthday confusing my account to begin with. Can’t remember what prompted me to try the license reset but when i did it went (0/1) then (1/1) then locked me out of everything.
Customer support believe it is Now Beta related from what people are saying. I did mention the Beta to them when I called but they weren’t aware of what it was. I didn’t realise myself that it may be Now related until I spotted the forum.
David currently can’t access any of his digital content, purchased or Plus related, with the download list also out of action. Free apps such as Vevo & BBC iPlayer are also inaccessible, with the PS4 system stating he doesn’t have the license. The PS4 David is using is the confirmed primary console linked to his account. Kathyrn White, David’s wife, also has a PS4 account but is not a Plus member and the store as well as the free applications are accessible through her log in, confirming this issue is account based and not system based.
The first image in the gallery above shows David’s account with the Plus icon, with the second showing that icon now gone. David confirmed with Sony that his subscription will not expire until July. A second user, who wishes to remain anonymous, sent the last image in the gallery showing his services list was completely empty despite having items there before.
Sony has issued a statement on the issue on the support thread saying:
As a lot more reports on this have come in over night I have escalated it to the Network team for investigation. In the mean time you are welcome to contact PlayStation Support to log your issue individually but hopefully a blanket solution will be applied to all those affected.
While the PS Now beta is currently being blamed for this issue there isn’t conclusive proof, at least not yet. TSA will try to get a more detailed statement from Sony, but with it being the Bank Holiday weekend in the UK a response is unlikely to be received quickly. If you have been affected then TSA would like to hear from you too, and we shall continue to update as we find out more about this account issue.
Update: Lots of people are getting in touch saying problems started when restoring licenses. If you are in the PS Now beta do not do this as it may be one of the causes leading to being locked out of digital content.
Update 2: There may be a fix, albeit temporary, that unlocks digital content. The advice comes from Taylor on Twitter.
@thesixthaxis there is a work around to accessing your locked games, go & start them from the library, that unlocks the games that are lock

I also got the impression on one of the calls I made that they were not all that interested to begin with. I was actually more Surprised and concerned that when I mentioned being in the PlayStation Now Beta they had no idea what it is.
Hopefully we’ll all get service restored soon or at least a little communication.

Another bank holiday, another PSN cockup. Someone remind me why we are paying for the service. Its not even as if the free games are any good anymore, indies pfft.

To be fair, this only affected people in the PS Now beta (seemingly), so it can’t be labelled as ‘another PSN cockup’. Mainly as millions have still been able to access PSN with no issues whatsoever over the weekend.
Not making light of the issue here (which clearly is an issue for many), just saying that its not on the usual level of fail.

Also in the PS Now Beta but have had no problems, yet! I was surprised on Friday that the DriveClub DLC didn’t auto download but downloaded and installed OK. I haven’t used Now Beta since Wednesday and won’t be using again until it’s sorted.
I’ve just bought a new hard drive for my PS4 and was going to install it tomorrow but I think it may be wiser to wait until the issue is resolve, just in case?

I managed to get through to playstation support live chat earlier, told them the problem and they gave me a link to the ps store to but ps plus! When i went to explain, again!!! They stopped the chat, leaving me to fill in a customer satisfaction form. Lets say the report was not one of the best they’ve had.

Just signed into my account on my mbp and the ps plus games have been added to my download list and are showing as ‘purchased’. Not sure what happened earlier but all is well again (for me at least).
I haven’t really bothered with PS Now after trying Blood Dragon and finding the quality was poor. I guess that’s a good thing if PS Now is what’s causing the issues. I think it’s a good idea but the content is very limited at this stage (I’ve already played all the games that I would want to) so I haven’t spent much time with it at all. Hoping they post a fix soon for everyone else.

Having this probably too but have access to all my digital games just no access to online play. I accidentally bought ps+ thinking I probably ran out as I have no clue when it expires & it wasn’t showing up next to my name but still made no difference, can’t access online play. It’s so frustrating that no one at Sony can help. Ask playstation is useless like how am I going to call my region at 11pm when they close at 9pm better don’t open on Sunday! Playstation customer services get paid to tell people that we looking into it, we had many calls about this & we don’t know how to solve it only technical team do & since it’s back holiday it might not be solved till tomorrow well fuck you Sony!!!’ 23 mill is about to be subtracted

Library method is working on some locked titles now for me. Have Netflix and YouTube back. A couple of the ps+ Freebies are also now unlocked. Thanks Taylor.

I’ve just turned my PS4 on for the first time since Thursday evening and everything appears to be working fine. Started up the couple of plus games I’ve got without problem and the others all show purchased when I checked the store.
