PES 2016 Is Out September 18th, With Some PlayStation Exclusive Features

2016 marks the 20th anniversary of the Pro Evolution Soccer series, and Konami – despite rumours of heading to a mobile centric future – are keen to push the game on to the next level, after what many saw as a return to form with last year’s game. PES 2016 will be out on 18th September for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

So they’re focussing on a new collision system and how players interact, which feeds into aerial strength and control when going for headers and volleys. 1v1 player control has been enhanced to allow for finer control in tight situations, while timing your tackles to perfection will give you instant control over the ball. Then there’s more intelligent AI which can handle one-twos and running into space and goalkeepers have more nuanced characteristics. Most importantly, though, you’ll be able to control the goal celebrations, and take selfies with cameras, and stuff.

The Fox Engine has been refined further, allowing for a new dynamic weather system – beating FIFA to the punch, as far as I’m aware – so that there can be changeable conditions over the course of a match. That also relies on new ball physics that should better calculate richocets and the effects of spin. There’s also an overhauled Master League a few tweaks an improvements to myClub.

There’s also an exclusive PS4/PS3 Anniversary Edition of the game, which nets you more boosts for your early days in myClub, beyond what you get simply for pre-ordering. And, exclusively to PS3 and PS4, you’ll be able to import images into the game, allowing you to replicate a real world team kit that Konami don’t have the license for.

Speaking of which, they have secured a new agreement with UEFA to license the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa Cup, and will feature Neymar Jr. as the cover star for the game, as was announced a few days ago with the above teaser trailer.

  1. Smashing!

  2. Now wait a cotton picking minute… The ability to insert images was obviously missing from the PS4 edition of PES15 due to limitations of the PS4 operating system.
Does the press release elaborate on how this will be possible on PS4 this time around?

    • Don’t know if it’s just me, but didn’t see anything about inserting your own images into the game in what was written above?

Admittedly though, I haven’t watched the vid as I am at work – Was it mentioned here instead perhaps?

      • Sorry, just seen it – That’ll teach me to skim!

        Carry on… Nothing to see here… :S

  3. All sounds great, now fix the commentary, im still hearing phrases that were in the PS2 versions of the game.

  4. ah shame, no women featuring in the game like forthcoming fifa 16? Hopefully in next version then.
