Bethesda Reveals Lots Of Gameplay And Multiplayer Details For DOOM

It was less than a year ago when Bethesda and ID Software showed a select group of players DOOM for the first time, but this E3 they released footage and new details to the entire world.

Marty Stratton, Executive Producer at ID Software, once again took the stage to show off what they’ve been working on. They started with single player footage from a research facility on Mars. As Stratton noted before the video began, the gameplay was all about massive demons, big guns and fast combat. Though the player mostly used variations of the shotgun, an automatic energy weapon, chainsaw and melee finishers were all on display.

From there, they went on to talk about multiplayer for the first time. Not only will DOOM have competitive multiplayer with game modes like Domination, Freeze Tag and Clan Arena, but it will also include powerups, and an impressive array of mod tools in the form of what they’ve dubbed DOOM SnapMap. This new feature will give players the ability to create and share new maps and co-op modes with the world on all platforms.

Finally, to bring an end to reveal, Stratton took the stage one last time to show off additional footage of DOOM’s single player campaign, this time in the depths of hell. The demons were a little bigger this time around, but the player had all the weapons he needed to dispatch them quickly.

  1. Looks absolutely amazing, can’t wait

  2. As good and fun as this looks, am I the only one that watched it and then thought “I wish they’d make a new Quake game using this tech, or heck just remake Quake2”?!

  3. I like the art-direction. But I fear the filesize of this game given how massive Wolfenstein is.

  4. Looks a lot better than I expected. Will probably pick it up :)
