Fully Customisable Xbox One Elite Controller Coming This Fall

Microsoft just unveiled a new controller for the Xbox One called the Elite controller, and it launches this fall. The controller features swappable parts such as analog sticks, four paddles that can be mapped to face and shoulder buttons, complete button remap options, hair trigger switches to reduce trigger engage and more. No word on a price yet but we should know more in the coming months. In the meantime, have a look at the trailer below and let us know what you think.

  1. This looks great. I’ve got a 360 controller with a similar setup.

  2. Couldn’t button remapping be done in software?

The hair trigger switch is nice, everything else seems like it’s trying to solve problems nobody had. Stick a rechargeable battery in it for god’s sake!

    • Remapping can be done on the PS via the options – Although I haven’t used it, so I don’t know how that translates to operating in games, or even if it does. Additionally, I recently learned that DS4’s already have hair trigger functionality (which is apparently why those perks in Destiny don’t work as well as you would expect, as it already does it!), so this seems like a good effort from MS to catch up.

However, your mention of a rechargeable battery would probably be more helpful still. I suppose they have to leave something out to be able to make more improvements though! ;)

  3. I’m not a MS fan at all, but this looks like the first controller of theirs which I don’t find just plain ugly. They’re really doing good at the moment, and this adds to the list convincing XBox 360 owners to upgrade within their camp.
I hope it’s not all too late, as some competition would be good for Sony.
