The Swindle is a game about sneaking into people’s houses and robbing them blind, but what makes it quietly brilliant is that every house is completely different, procedurally generated and filled with all manner of Steampunk inspired robots and traps.
Unless you are the most masterful of master thieves, your B&E will at some point go terribly, terribly wrong, and you have to try and escape before the cops show up and manage to arrest you. That’s fine though, because just as each house is procedurally generated, so is your easily replaced thief.
You can check out our preview and chat with developer Dan Marshall from earlier this year, but Curve Digital and Size Five Games have announced today that The Swindle is on its way to release on 28th July. The PS4, PS4, PS Vita and Steam versions of the game will land on that day, while the Xbox One version will appear on 31st July and the Wii U version will appear a little down the line.
