When Microsoft first announced the ability to stream Xbox One games to PC, many people wondered how long it would take to apply that same technology to making PC games playable on Xbox One. While we still don’t know for certain whether this feature will ever make it to consumers, Phil Spencer made it sound like it’s something they’re keen to keep looking at, and it sounds like they’re already taking the first steps.
We understand if you’re going to go PC to Xbox, we need to get keyboard and mouse working completely so you could play those games. In terms of where we want to go with our platform, those are absolutely in scope of things that we want to do.
Of course, executing this feature doesn’t come without its challenges, which Spencer also mentioned.
It’s actually a little more challenging doing the encoding on the PC side to the Xbox, but challenge is good.
It seems like a lot of people would much rather have streaming from PC to console, as so many seem to find the couch a more comfortable place than a desk chair. It’ll be interesting to see how and when this feature takes shape, and how well Steam Link works in comparison.
