Community Chronicle: 23/08/15

As Gazza was saying yesterday, it’s good to have F1 back on our TVs this weekend, though I didn’t suffer through the summer break quite as heavily as he did. After yesterday’s qualifying, the battle for first might be between the two Mercedes cars, but there’s no denying just how tightly packed the remaining spots in the top ten were. Hopefully that leads to a cracking race… which will be starting right as this post goes live!

There didn’t seem to be all that much that got you all talking, this past week, except for Tuffcub’s boob-themed News Snatch, featuring all manner of excessive and ridiculous representations of boobs in video games… Senran Kagura 2, in particular.

MrYd was thoroughly disappointed by this turn of events:

I can see two things wrong with your boob-filled snatch.

  1. I’m not a fan of boobs. They’re weird and disturbing and I’ve no idea what they’re for.
  2. I have a degree in physics, and so those videos anger me in other ways too. Nothing should move like that.
  3. You’ve caused me to type “boob-filled snatch”. Which is not something I ever expected to happen.
  4. I can’t count now.

Next time, can we have an “assorted man-parts special” instead? Please?

DJ Judas found a different problem, in that “This will have irreparably damaged my list of YouTube videos ‘recommended for you!’”

Just watch lots and lots of cat videos for the next two weeks, and I’m sure you’ll have overwritten YouTube’s sample data.

Trust Star Wars to get people talking as well, with a special Star Wars edition PlayStation 4 and some re-releases of classic Star Wars games announced to accompany the release of Star Wars Battlefront. Except, with just a image of Darth Vader on the side, it’s a rather unimaginative design.

Starman said, “Looks good but they should’ve had it have a Jedi holding a lightsaber, which would be the PS4 lightbar. That would’ve looked ace.”

As you might imagine, someone with a TSA ID like coruscant would be very interested in this as well. “Ok, I already have Battlefront on pre-order,” they said, “with a good deal from GAME (£10 off when pre-ordering soon after it was announced), and of course I already have a PS4, but I think I’ll have to get this – especially with the games it comes with.”

Avenger is somewhat conflicted with what console to buy, as a consequence. “Okay, this is pretty awesome and it may well change my mind for the time being as I’m a massive Star Wars fan. Then again…” before continuing to say “It’s a case of what to go for first for me. Wii U doesn’t come into it, as I wanted that for handheld play around the house (and MK8 & Super Mario Bros). I was going for an XB1 first, later in the year perhaps, although I may give into the dark side for one of these first as I’d love to play those Star Wars games enhanced, plus a Darth Vader console is lovely when you’re a crazed SW fan like me.”

With Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain on the horizon, ron_mcphatty has been milking Ground Zeroes for every single ounce of gameplay it holds. That means grabbing each and every cassette tape and investigating a suspicious code one of them contains on the internet. Sadly the mystery has eluded everyone thus far.

Youles and his son played Goat Simulator and found it to be a hilarious experience, as they raced to the platinum trophy – just the Flappy Goat trophy displeased them – before Youles turned his gaze to restoring his 100% of trophies in Rocket League. Not quite as complete, but still admirable, CR8ZYH0RSE nabbed the platinum for Rocket League as well.

R1MJAW has been busy with his usual bouts of co-op play in Borderlands 2 and Dying Light, before finishing his own solo journey through The Pre-Sequel. Carrot381, on the other hand, had much less joy, as they finished a second play of The Witcher 3 and still didn’t get the card collector trophy to drop…

And that’s everything of note! Hopefully next week will be busier on both the news and achievements side of things.

Alas, there’s no trophy leaderboard update this week, as a inferior race is being moved from one secure facility to another… or something. So, to finish off this page, we have the usual submission form.

  1. Very quiet on TSA all week, more on the comments than anything else. Rather humorously I went into a forum thread and found loads of life, only to realise the page I was looking at was 2 years old.

I couldn’t help but be excited for F1 at Spa on the back of the last 2 GP, but it ended up being straightforward. No doubt Monza will be equally basic.

    • Straightforward for the win, yes, but there was all sorts of changing fortunes over the course of the race for the rest of the field.

      • Yeah that was good, but the overtaking was clean and simple, except for Max Verstappen’s moves which still continue to impress. I just didn’t find the mix up mid field that compelling. Maybe I’ve been spoiled by the Silverstone/Hungaroring races.
