IO Interactive has announced it is delaying the latest Hitman game until March 2016, stating that the extra time will allow for more content to be ready for launch. The newest Hitman title is following a different release schedule to other games with launch bringing some missions, but more get added over time including one time only missions. The studio has also released a graphic showing just how big one stage is in comparison to the largest area in Hitman Absolution.
If every mission in the new Hitman is following that kind of scale then you can understand the delay. IO also confirmed that the later release date means additional content will be available more quickly during Hitman’s lifetime, so players won’t have to wait a huge amount of time between each content drop. More details about Hitman will be announced next week.

I thought that this would happen after the backlash and moaning about them releasing a partially made game.

this best be a boxed game but definitely a good idea moving away from gaming rush this year. i expect alot of flops this year. companies never learn to spread their games out but hey don’t complain to us when the game flops.
MOVE
I’m pretty sure it will still be a digital version, only with more content. In the other end there won’t be as much follow up content as originally planned because of the inclusion of more material and thus the delay. Additionaly it won’t be as long from the release of the digital version to the physical version.
