HItman Classic Trilogy Remastered announced for next year

Saber Interactive and IO Interactive have announced Hitman Classic Trilogy Remastered, which will be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2027.

Now, not to insult your intelligence or anything, but the Hitman Classic Trilogy will include Hitman: Codename 47, HItman 2: Silent Assassin and Hitman: Contracts. All three are being given a visual enhancements with upgraded character models, enhanced environments and high-resolution textures. If you want to HItman like it’s the year 2000, you can toggle seamlessly between the enhanced and the original graphics – which is always a great feature for these remasters. Saber are also building a photo mode into the game.

Check out some of the environmental transformations:

Compared to the more recent trilogy of HItman, IO Interactive were still very much figuring out what Hitman was through their first three games. Codename 47 brought an experimental tone, compared to the greater stealth focus of the second and a darker tone to the third game. And actually, Contracts was kind of a remake of the Codename 47, itself bringing more advanced graphics (from 2004 to the 2000 original), enhanced gameplay, but then weaving a new story and some additional levels into the mix. It’s a slight shame that this isn’t a quadrilogy to also include Hitman: Blood Money, the fourth game and last until 2012’s Hitman Absolution. In fact, the last time these games were remastered, back with 2013’s Hitman HD Trilogy for PS3 and Xbox 360, it was Silent Assassin, Contracts and Blood Money that were spruced up. Then again, Blood Money and Absolution are already playable on modern consoles, thanks to PS4 and Xbox One ports.

If you think that all sounds a bit confused and messy, let me remind you that there have been about 17 different ways that you can buy the 2016-2021 World of Assassination trilogy.

Saber has been busy in recent years, partnering on a number of remaster projects of this ilk, including Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered and Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered.
