Having been delayed from a December release, it’s now been announced that the new Hitman game will hit PS4, Xbox One and PC on March 11th, 2016 and will include locations set in Paris, Sapienza and Marrakesh, where you can hunt targets in six campaign missions and mess about with user generated content.
Following on from this, a new location will be released each month for three months, each with its own missions, signature kills and disguises. April will find the Agent 47 in Thailand, May features the United States of America and June is a jaunt across to Japan. All of these will be available for free for those who buy the game at full price, $59.99.
If you don’t fancy forking out for half a game you can’t play right away, there is the $34.99 ‘Hitman Intro Pack’ which gives you the first three locations, and then lets you optionally pay $29.99 at a later date to upgrade to the full game.
No EU or UK pricing has been mentioned as yet, but there will then be a retail release of the game once all of the content has been released.
Let the discussion commence…

So is this a single game having its content released like an episodic series (ala walking dead, tales from borderlands etc) or will the game simply not be finished in time for release? Either way, I don’t like it at all. Just feels like I’d be paying full price for half a game or paying half for it now and the rest later. Wierd!
I love Hitman, but I’ll be giving this a miss until all the content is out I reckon.
Starman
Looks like it’s a digital release only, no chance I’m paying full price for a game I can’t sell after.

Says there will be a retail release once all the content is out, in which case I’ll grab that! Best of both worlds – physical copy and all the content!
Starman
Ah so will I then. I wonder if this release strategy is to try and combat preowned sales? I like the Hitman games but not enough to pay £50 for it.
Youles
Could be, although since it’s been delayed already, I wonder if they’re just allowing themselves longer to finish the extra content (which appears they might have added due to community pressure).
Alternatively, it could be a good strategy to make the initial game cheaper, so more accessible to more people. Seems a bit strange to me either way!

I watched a walk through at EGX of this and it does look good. Depending on the UK price I’ll be getting it.

I’m sure this game will be good, as absolution was but I think I’ll wait until the price drops along with all the content :).
