It feels like I zoned out for the second half of the week and missed quite a bit. I must confess I didn’t even realise Assassin’s Creed Syndicate was out this week until I saw the review on TSA! Has anyone here been playing it? Part of me wants to get it, but part of me thinks I should get around to finishing Black Flag and playing through Unity first. Who else is torn about some upcoming or newly released games? (I know I’m not alone!)
With the busy Q4 release period kicking off, we’ve got quite a bit to get through as we begin this week’s Community Round-Up!
Looking at the Meets, chances are that Monday will see the usual Project CARS meet, with the odd Rocket League or GTA V Meet thrown in elsewhere.
If you’d rather play something else, you can add your own Meet to the list, provided you have more than 250 TSA Points.
It was quite the week for the reviews, as we get into the heart of the Q4 release period. We had two high scorers, both on 9/10’s. Jim described Guitar Hero Live as “exactly what the franchise needed” after a five year break, while Stefan thought Life Is Strange was “one of the best examples of modern storytelling within games.”
Dropping down to the first of many 7/10’s, we had Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. The latest installment doesn’t offer any significant jumps for the series, but that’s not to say existing fans won’t enjoy tearing around London. Meanwhile, Dave reviewed two Nintendo titles this week, The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes and Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water.
Elsewhere, Stefan enjoyed the fresh start for WRC 5, while Jim gets the award for reviewing the game with the longest title this week, in Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below.
Bringing the reviews to a close, Dom gave a 6/10 to Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden, while Aran calls The Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone, “DLC that has been done right, genuinely adding to an already great game”.
Moving onto the previews, Stefan had a look at what solo players can do in the solo play Situations mode of Rainbow Six Siege, and he and Dave bring us a video of themselves playing Gremlins, Inc. Dave described Downwell as a “demake of Spelunky”, while Murder, a short story point and click game left Stefan wanting more of the futuristic tale.
Mobile Watch featured Need For Speed: No Limits, as the Open Forum discussed Tacked On Single Player, while the Chronicle talked about PlayStation VR and the discovery pre-orders make you sad (get the tissues ready).
And to end the articles, Tuffcub joined the gang for Episode 198 of the Podcast, while What We Played #226 featured SOMA, Forza & Gremlins, Inc.

Let’s have a quick rummage through the Forums now…
- Carrot381 finds an interesting New Scientist article about Horror Games
- And with Fallout 4 just around the corner, GoosePies has got his pipboy edition order in!
That’s it for today. I’m hoping for an exciting and wet qualifying later today – if they’re able to go ahead in spite of Hurricane Patricia’s influence – and also looking forward to the start of the semi-finals in the rugby. Enjoy your weekends – bye!
