Final Fantasy VII’s Cloud Is The Latest Entrant To Super Smash Bros.

Nintendo’s Direct ended with a couple of major annoucements for Super Smash Bros, with the first being that Final Fantasy VII’s main protagonist, Cloud, will enter the arena. A trailer shows the character in action using moves like Omnislash against the Smash roster. Cloud’s addition to the roster was very unexpected though as a huge character it makes sense.

Nintendo also announced that in December there will be a Super Smash Bros dedicated stream event, though what that will entail was not confirmed by the company.

  1. But no SEPHIROTH!? If you’re going to use Cloud in a fighting game you must have SEPHIROTH! Just so that One Winged Angel can be used. That said, i’m glad it’s not Lightining that is being used for Final Fantasy again. I kinda dislike her as she seems like a mary sue. It’s also a bit ironic that Cloud, of all people is in a Nintendo game due to FF7 being on the PS1 due to the N64’s hardware not being able to cope with the size of the game. Would have thought that Terra or any of the pre-7 games would have a character appear.

  2. Pretty cool, although yes, certainly unexpected to have Cloud in there considering it’s Nintendo. I guess Square worked something out with them. Next character could be Lara Croft?

    • Doubt it due to the timed exclusive crap that has been pulled with it. :( Just hate timed exclusives as it just punishes the fanbase for not owning the platform it is on despite it being a multiplat game.
