The Friday the 13th: The Game Has Been Fully Funded

Gun Media’s Friday the 13th: The Game has reached it’s goal on Kickstarter with a couple of days spare, meaning game development can continue. The game will let you play as one of seven counsellors at Camp Crystal Lake, or Jason himself, in a multiplayer battle of survival.

The title is being created for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, for release near the end of 2016.

  1. Brilliant, looking forward to seeing how this pans out.

  2. The only Friday 13th in 2016 is in May. I’m going for Friday 13th January 2017 release date.

  3. Ch ch ch ch ch. Ch ch ch ch ch.

I’d only ever seen the one set in space until recently. The earlier ones were pretty good.

If this had been an interactive single player game like Until Dawn, I’d be really looking forward to it but knowing it’s multiplayer really puts me off. I’m imagining Evlove but with a masked psychopath instead of a monster – and we all know how well that game turned out.

    • The fact there is one set in space at all tells you a lot about the state of the franchise!

      • I kinda liked Jason X. I think it falls into the ‘so bad it’s good’ category.

      • Oddly enough, Jason X was my introduction to Jason Vorhees. Yeah, it’s the worst film of the sequel but it had UberJason!(not the taxi brand although if Jason is your driver, GET OUT OF THE TAXI!)

  4. My first kickstarter contribution – because, you know, Jason.

Whahoo I love Jason Voorhees big fan. Day one for me xD

    • Kinda a massive difference between that Friday the 13th piece of crap and this one. One was produced by Laughing Joking Numbnuts, one isn’t and one is being developed by people who care about delivering a good game.

  6. \o/! Should be a rather interesting game although playing as Jason must be overpowered or it’s not Jason at all! I mean, the dude flat out refuses to stay dead and is almost impossible to stop. Hell, even Freddy Kruger had trouble kicking his ass.

    • It would be good if Jason was invincible and the other players just have to stay alive as long as they can. If you’re Jason, the more victims you kill the higher the score. If you’re a player, the longer you survive, the more points you get. It could be on a timer so people can compete how long they were able to survive. You could even get a bonus for helping other players who are in trouble.

      • Good idea. :) I would also go with the not rip off Aliens:Isolation but rip them off anyway as that would work even better route.
