Gameplay Rules
1) In situations where a side must be taken, always side with the person who is nicest to you. The exception to this is if they are asking you to be dishonest, commit criminal activities, or break your loyalty to another. The caveat to the above is that if it’s not obviously dishonest or criminal, Gump may not actually realise that this is the case.
2) All route finding and travel must be done by foot – no fast travel except to return to a safe place before saving.
3) Should you take a companion, they must be the nearest facsimile to “Ex-Military” as possible. The nearest to this includes Paladin Danse and Preston, though the latter is arguable. You may use Dogmeat until an appropriate companion becomes available. Once a companion has “collapsed” they be considered to be retired. You must then dismiss them unless they must accompany you for a quest.
4)Â Always run. Sneaking is not allowed.
5) Demonstrate loyalty at all times. If NPCs act kindly towards Gump (even once), he must always be fiendishly loyal to them from then onwards until such a point where they are asking Gump to be dishonest or commit a crime.
6)Â Gump can’t kill members of the opposite gender; including Ghoul’s and any other humanoid races, as Forrest would never hurt a woman.
7)Â Working on the basis that the main questline is what you are ‘supposed’ to be doing, Gump must always prioritise sub-quests over this, and the priority will always be quests which help others. Forrest Gump is a selfless, loving person, who would always put the needs of others over his own.
8)Â Demonstrate high level of integrity at all times. Forrest always showed high integrity, the best example being giving Bubba’s share of the profits from the shrimp business to his family after his death.
9)Â Must obsessively see through a particular task, doggedly pursuing until complete.
10)Â As well as integrity, Gump must always pursue the honest approach to a situation.

I feel personally invested in this. ;)
On a more serious note, does that mean that you will be running everywhur?
Forrest_01
Ignore that – Just saw there was a page two. Bit embarrassing.
So now that I have read that, does that mean that if a companion dies, you will be donating half your caps to their family? :)

I toyed with that one when I wrote the rules, but it seemed unfeasible given at the time – weeks pre-release, we didn’t know much about the cast. In fact I think at the point Dave asked me to do this, we knew nothing other than there was Dogmeat.
So I opted to just tie that honorable trait into an overall ‘act with integrity’ rule.

Very much looking to future instalments of this. Run Forrest run!

This can run & run.

On an amusing side note, other character builds that were messed around with (but left incomplete so far) are:
Iron Man/Batman (largely the same build so far but I envisage the ‘rules’ being different)
Jean-Luc Picard
Han Solo
Jay & Silent Bob
Stefan L
Han Solo, I’m assuming, would always shoot first?
neuroticnugg
But of course!!!!
(Really hoping this comments section does not become a Han v. Greedo conversation)
The Lone Steven
Han shot first but because Lucas didn’t want a backlash, he did one of the worst photoshop jobs to show Greedo….. da,, no, no. ooo, that was too close. I am not getting dragged into Greedo Han arguments! Besides, we all know that Darth Vader turned into a scorpion first.
Yes, that actually happened in a game. No, i don’t know why that happened.

Looking forward to seeing more Dave – i hope you don’t die too soon! :P

Haha love this idea. Do random but highly entertaining!
I’ve read it twice but not seen any mention of difficulty settings, am I being an idiot?
Is power armour allowed?
Dave Irwin
Difficulty settings aren’t factored into this challenge. I’m personally playing on the default difficulty, but should you wish to try it on harder ones, then by all means!
Don’t see why Power Armour wouldn’t be allowed.

OK cool.
Weirdly, I am loathed to use the power armour in the game at all. I’ve stored it at Sanctuary and that’s it. In hindsight, I could have done with it when I was at a certain quest from the Minutemen. Was struggling with a legendary creature when out of nowhere, a Queen of the same species came at me. Kicked. My. Ass!
2 x fatman, 5 x missle launcher, 1 x bottlecap mine, 6 x fragmentation grenade and a lot of running away. Not to mention, nearly all my reserve of Stimpaks. Power armour may have helped me a bit in that scenario.

AG2297 (Adam) is the same. He wants to leave the armour out of it. I can see why but at least it’s an option to use if the radioactive shit really hits the fan. :D
