It’s the last What We Played of the year today, as we get ready to take a break for Christmas – though there’s still going to be stuff popping up on the site between now and the start of 2016 – but it’s also the first What We Played after The Force Awakens has released in cinemas. So I also asked the team if and when they had or were going to see the latest Star Wars film.
Dom, being the excitable little child at heart that he is, has already seen the film twice! His one word review says it’s “fantastic”, but he’s been backing that up by playing Disney Infinity 3.0 and its new The Force Awakens expansion pack. He’s also continued with challenges in Just Cause 3, multiplayer in Xenoblace Chronicles X and reviewed Fast Racing Neo.
“Splindiforous” is how Miguel described the Force Awakens, which he watched in a Nyquil fuelled fever. He’s restricted his gaming time to a spot of Sparrow racing in Destiny and some EDF2 on the Vita.
Tuffcub’s also been Sparrow racing, but quickly got bored of it and its lack of weapons and tracks. He’s also not enjoying his time in Fallout 4, and has decided to wait for Star Wars VII to appear on Sky Movies, rather than go to a cinema.
But Aran’s doing it right, even if he’s a few days behind the most rabid of fans (and risking having certain story moments spoiled for him). He’s off to see Star Wars in 3D IMAX on Tuesday. He’ll doubtless continue to kill plenty of time trying to guide Southampton to glory in Football Manager 16, but also played some Rainbow Six Siege to comically bad effect.
Also on the team was Jim, who has spent most of the past week doing but flit between the various PS4 games stored on that new 2TB hard-drive of his. He won’t be seeing Star Wars ’til Monday and is currently blitzing through episodes one to six. His week started off with a brief spell of Star Wars Battlefront as he went about mopping up some of the more miscellaneous trophies available. This meant a lot of scouting for AT-ST tokens so he could stomp 25 rebels, among other silly tasks.
This was followed up by a long haul on The Witcher III. With the difficulty cranked up to “Death March” it’s pretty tough, but he insists the game continues to thrive. Guitar Hero Live also featured regularly, as did DriveClub, and The Elder Scrolls Online.
His attention soon switched over to Rainbow Six Siege. For the first few hours he didn’t even touch any of the online stuff, making sure he bagged every star in the game’s solo “Situations” first. It was long before he finally started to get his hands dirty in the multiplayer side of things, briefly teaming up with fellow TSAers for a solid few rounds.
And I was also part of that group in Rainbow Six Siege, effing and blinding at the incompetence of the 5th man, a matchmade companion who was invariably quite hopelessly useless. I also returned to Dying Light last weekend for a bit of co-operative play, in an attempt to finish it before the major DLC lands towards the start of next year.
My own one word Star Wars review? Nostalgic.

Only Xenoblade Chronicles X for me. This game seriously has its claws in me. I even stayed up til 3am playing it, which I haven’t done since skyrim.

Won’t be seeing Star Wars until new year after I get a cinema voucher for Xmas. In full on spoiler avoidance mode.

Star Wars did not particularly impress me, but it did send me back to Battlefront.
And a lovely surprise in that it’s a double XP weekend! So that’s what I’ll be playing over the next few days anyway.

Busy Christmas schedule is eating into my gaming time but i had time to enjoy some more progress in Fallout 4, began playing Kings Quest which is looks gorgeous and has a great sense of humour. Also played a few levels of Gauntlet but it feels like a poor relative of Diablo.

SK-R-IM!
I’ll be in the corner of shameful puns and jokes if you need me. Just Skyrim, nuff said.
