US Amazon Prime Members Now Get 20% Off All Pre-Orders

Amazon has launched a new bonus for those with Amazon Prime subscriptions in the United States, a discount on all pre-ordered games, and new games for the first two weeks of release.

This seems to apply to all games, and is not a limited offer. The new deal appears to be in retaliation to Best Buy’s Gamers Club Unlocked program which also offers the 20% discount.

There is no sign of the offer on the EU Amazon stores and it is unlikely we will get it, with no Best Buy offer in the UK there is little reason for Amazon to offer to the deal.

  1. Amazon Prime is brilliant. Movies, Music, One day delivery, the new PrimeNow app and hopefully this will come to the UK too.

If Amazon did a pay monthly scheme, people would be all over this. I think the initial up front costs puts some people off but the annual cost is only a little bit more than what you pay for Netflix and Netflix (UK) is pretty rubbish.

    • But you can pay for Prime month by month now, I think it’s about 7 or 8 quid for a month.

What’s the music stuff like? I haven’t bothered trying it as Spotify is everything I want.

      • Really? I didnt know that. Good to know for next time.

To be honest I’ve only ever used prime music a few times. I like to sync my whole itunes library to my iphone so everything I want to listen to, I pretty much already own. I’ve got a little over 11,000 songs on it at the moment. So I only really use prime music to preview albums I’m curious about before I buy them. I listened to Bowies new album the other day and it worked fine though.

      • I think its just music and movies?

  2. You wouldn’t get Prime just for the 20% off, if it ever came here, as you would need to buy a heck of a lot of games to make it worth while. But it would be a nice bonus if you already have it.

    • Well, you’d need to buy 10, that would give you 200% discount, ie two free games at £45 a pop, so £90 covering your amazon prime membership. But you get movies, music and shed loads more with Prime as well.

  3. Online content is THE big thing as we continue to move away from traditional media formats and Amazon know that they need to pull in the customers for its services.

I subscribe to Google Music but I must admit that Amazon Prime’s all inclusive price for video, music, delivery, over 500,000 ebooks and ‘prime only’ deals makes me think seriously about switching. I need to be convinced about the music offerings though…

    • I’m sure that a large portion of people on here, and out in the world, will have eclectic tastes in music and not just Justin Beber. I’ve scoured Amazon Prime Music for my tastes and it seems to be missing quite a lot that Google has. Hmmmm.

      • Beibers latest songs have been pretty good though to be fair :D

      • *finishes off his coffee*

Guys, girls. We all know what must be done.

A MUSICAL NUMBER ABOUT WHY JR SHOULD BE BRUTALLY BEATEN UP WITH COPIES OF JUST DANCE!

        No?

        Just me who thinks that?

      • That’s taking a bit too far. This is about behavioural correction, not death by Just Dance. Subject him to the Hannah Montana game, that should do the trick and make sure such things are never repeated again :P

      • Yeah, we’ve been banned from using that. Turns out Disney are right BLEEPS about thier game being used to torture people. Oh and because i may have punched Mickey in the face.

      • Yes! I love Just Dance. Best game everrrr! And what else can be said about the genius that is Miley Cyrus. She’s only the most influential artist of our times.

      • Pfft, everyone’s up in arms over Hannah Montana-torture methods aren’t they. Damn political correctness.

  4. This is why competition is a good thing.

  5. I can’t deny that Prime is good value for money, but it’s the feeling of being locked in to one particular retailer that puts me off.
