An open beta for Tom Clancy’s The Division will run next week from February 19th until the 21st on PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One, with the latter getting an extra 24 hours early access.
The beta will be available to pre-load on all platforms on February 16th, and it will include new content not found in the closed beta. Anyone who participates will also get an in-game reward when the game launches in March.
“The development team has resolved most of the PC cheating issues tracked during the closed beta, and all of them will be resolved by launch on March 8,” say Ubisoft in a blog post. “The developers will continue to closely monitor the open beta for any new issues, and address them accordingly.”

Yep, definitely going in for this. Highly recommend it.

Me too! Back aboard the hype train!!
Anyone know if the original 28gb install will still work? Haven’t deleted it in the hope that it’ll still use he same application data.

Probably not, going by previous games this gen. But if you have the space you may as well try.

Thanks, I couldn’t think of another example where I’d played a closed, then open beta, so thanks for the heads up. Seeing as the download is available way before the accessible date, I may as well download the new one! ;)

Nice, didn’t see that coming. It’ll be a nice bonus for me (and others).I wonder if they’ll unlock more tiers?

Ooh sweet mary and joseph! New content, ah…im stuck in a dilemma, should I jump in the open beta and quench my thirst for more Division or be a patient boy and not spoil anything untill the release?!
Though I do like the sound of getting a special award for taking part in the open beta!

Ok, so should I be excited for this game? If so, why?
I have to be honest & say that it just seems like another 3rd person cover shooter to me.
I appreciate that the appropriate response to these questions could well be “just try the damn beta & find out for yourself!”, but I am neither a beta tester (when I test things, I get paid to do so), nor am I prepared to waste time downloading it & taking up yet more HDD space if I don’t think it’s for me.
Just wondered if it had a particular ‘hook’ was all.

Just try the damn beta & find out for yourself! :P
Honestly I can’t say much else other than that. A ton of people are saying it looks like another 3rd person cover shooter, or that the dark zone will be ‘unfair’, or lots of other things. Best way to find out is try it out. The best comparisons out there in terms of raw RPG gameplay are the likes of Borderlands, Destiny, and EVE: Online. As a shooter it’s fine, but there’s a bit more to the game than just picking off groups of enemies in a mission as you would do in a Ghost Recon game.

Will definitely try this. I’ve heard mostly positive things about it.
Two things that I’ve heard repeatedly though, are not so good actual shooting mechanics/feel. And harder enemies are mainly just bullet sponges, rather than being clever. I can accept average shooting but the AI concerns me.
Can anyone who played the closed beta share their experiences in this regard?
Youles
I’d actually disagree with those points, I think the shooting is rather good and presumably gets better as you level up and get better weapons, and better attachments (as they increase bullet-spread etc).
The enemies do take more damage on Hard, but I thought the AI was rather good on Hard – they seemed more aggressive and often tried to rush and/or flank me, so I often had to fall-back and bottle-neck them where possible. Definitely try for yourself though!
Avenger
Pretty much what Youles said.
The shooting and cover-to-cover action is probably the best it’s been in a Ubisoft third person shooter, and each weapon has it’s merits. Stuff like fire rate, recoil, accuracy, damage and magazine size make a big difference in combat, as does the weapon type with something like the LMGs having high damage but bad stability (I mean really bad). But then better weapons are there to loot/buy, weapon mods and weapon crafting too.
I found that on standard difficulty the enemies were just fine. Even on hard difficulty they weren’t bullet sponges, and like Youles said the AI’s tactics are quite good. They don’t bullshit around when it comes to flushing you out of cover and trying to kill you.

Ok thanks alot both of you, makes me feel more confident about the game.
