Rebellion Announce Sniper Elite 4

Karl Fairburne is back, and he’s on another do or die trying mission for the Allies. Following on from Sniper Elite 3’s campaign in North Africa, he’s crossing the Mediterranean Sea and heading into Italy, as Rebellion announce Sniper Elite 4 for release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC some time in 2016.

Interestingly, it doesn’t sound like he’s attached to the Allied forces taking part in the invasion of Sicily and the subsequent Italian Campaign. Instead, he’ll be fighting alongside the Italian Resistance, trying defeat a “terrifying new threat” which could halt Allied plans for Operation Overlord and beyond.

One of the complaints from Sniper Elite 3 was that North Africa didn’t have all that much variety in terms of environments, but the missions in Italy will feature everything “From sun-drenched Mediterranean coastal towns, to colossal Nazi megastructures, daunting forests and giddying mountain monasteries inspired by Monte Cassino.”

  1. Good news, I really enjoyed V2 and SE3 (and was tempted by Zombie Army Trilogy), so I’ll most likely pick this up. The games are pretty tough on the higher difficulties so can be very rewarding when you finish them.

As you mention Tef, it was the lack of environment variation in SE3 that was it’s main disappointment, for me personally. However, I’m glad I bought all the DLC as those maps were very good and varied.

  2. They should go all “Resistance” on this franchise and do an alternative reality from the history they’re grounding it in. :-)

    • They kind of did that with Nazi Zombie Army, but also, the whole alternate history thing’s a bit Wolfenstein: The New Order, isn’t it?

As long as they can find new and interesting places to drop Karl into, it’ll be grand.

      • Poundland would be good.

      • Worked for me with Resistance but either way, I’m up for more.
