Update 3.50Â to the PlayStation firmware includes new warnings in regard to PlayStation VR in the Health and Safety section. Sony explicitly state that headset tech is not to be used by anyone under 12 years of age.

The question is, how many parents will ignore the age limit? Although there have been no studies to suggest that using VR headsets is bad for children it seems the manufacturers, including Samsung and Oculus, are erring on the side of caution.

Makes sense. The Interpupillary distance (IPD) is so very different in children. Also, there’s enough warnings even for adults to pay attention to this.

Yep, you can help or hinder the development of kids eyes with exercises involving bright lights and dark spots at certain positions. Probably best to keep these sorts of things off your face until you’re at least 25 really, otherwise it’ll be masturbation and Minecraft that make you go blind!

Genuine lol :D.

Quite how you’ve managed to have even the mildest of erections whilst in Minecraft is beyond me but it’s nice to know how diverse we all are. :-P

“Review surroundings and clear obstacles before use” – Seems to imply not all games will be seated-only experiences – unless they are talking about within arm/leg range while seated.

I believe similar warnings were given when 3DS and all the 3D glasses tech came out as well… Something to do with kids eyes not being fully developed, IIRC.

It’s just Sony covering themselves in the off-chance of something happening to a child while using it.

I’m pretty sure there’s some truth in it as well :p

How many parents let their children use mobile phones… How many parents let their kids play 18 rated games… How many parents teach their children to hate… Brainwash their children with religion… A lot, I would imagine.
