343 Industries Unveil Halo 5's Upcoming Warzone Firefight Mode

Spartans getting REQ'd.

One of a number of notable omissions from Halo 5: Guardians was the cooperative Firefight mode, which had been a popular horde mode that Bungie introduced to the series with ODST. Now it’s on its way back, but 343 are going beyond the original format by blending Firefight with the larger scope and scale of Halo 5’s Warzone.

So, instead of four players teaming up to take on waves of enemies, it’s now eight players fighting through five rounds of dynamic objectives against the clock. There’s also new “Mythic” enemy bosses being thrown into the mix alongside the largest number of enemies on screen in the series’ history.

And those who have embraces the Warzone and the customisation offered by the REQ system will be glad to hear that REQ is also making its way to Warzone Firefight, allowing you to bring different and more powerful weaponry and vehicles into battle.

Warzone Firefight is a free expansion due out some time this summer, with Ghosts of Meridian, Memories of Reach and Hog Wild out between now and then.
