Dear Esther Will Release On PS4 & Xbox One This Summer

The Chinese Room has announced that it will be releasing Dear Esther, dubbed the spiritual prequel to Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture, on PS4 and Xbox One. Curve Digital will be handling the publishing. This console version will have some tweaked and improved visuals over the original 2012 edition that released on PC and Mac. There will also be a developer’s commentary option where the original team discuss making Dear Esther, and the game experience itself.

The story follows that of a man in the Scottish Hebrides as he tries to work out what events led to the death of his wife. Letters are spread across the island that help piece together the mystery of her death, as well as events from the distant past.  Dear Esther was a game that helped popularise genre that contains such games as Firewatch and Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture.

  1. To hell with the XB1. Got home last night with my newly purchased copy of Quantum Break and the damn power brick is dead. I have barely even used it. Piece of crap console. Yeah I’m mad.
