Tekken x Street Fighter Is On Hold, Due To Difficulty Finding Right Release Time

Would you believe me if I told you that Tekken x Street Fighter was announced six years ago? Well, it was. The game was supposed to follow Street Fighter x Tekken, putting characters from both rosters in a Tekken style fighter. When it was first announced there was quite some excitement but as the months and years passed that dwindled. Over the years Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada put out various statements that the game was being worked on, though none of what was widely shown to the public.

Now in an interview with GameSpot Harada has stated that Tekken x Street Fighter is on hold, and will remain so for the foreseeable future due to the release of Street Fighter V and the upcoming Tekken 7. Due to these finding a good time for a Tekken x Street Fighter release date has become difficult. Fracturing the fighting community would also be an issue as some are deeply involved with Street Fighter V, while others will be waiting to play Tekken 7. Releasing a game mixing the two threatens to split fans further. From the business side Capcom and  Namco probably don’t want a collaboration eating into the sales of main the Street Fighter and Tekken series’.

Harada and Bandai Namco are refusing to say cancelled, but Tekken x Street Fighter probably is.

  1. I think everyone had figured that out already. Maybe they’ll save it for next generation.

  2. Since we’re on the topic of crossovers, whatever became of the Shin Megami Tensei/ Fire Emblem game?

    • It’s been renamed “Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE” and will be out on 24th June 2016.
