Naughty Dog Confirms That All Maps And Modes In Uncharted 4 Multiplayer Will Be Free

Naughty Dog has provided details regarding Uncharted 4’s multiplayer, stating that all maps and modes will be available for free to all players as they launch. This has been done to keep the multiplayer community a united one, instead of fragmenting it with paid for exclusive maps. The studio has also confirmed that all vanity items for characters will be unlockable via gameplay too. Uncharted Points will be purchasable through the PSN Store if you want to get locked items quicker.

To get the DLC weapons, boosters, mysticals, and vanity items you’ll need to earn Relics. This can be done through completing daily challenges and winning matches, and the Relics acquired can be used to purchase DLC quests. These will contain random loot but you’ll never receive a duplicate item. If you have or a thinking or getting the Triple Pack then you’ll gain access to a single player story add on and two multiplayer packs when they’re available. I assume the story DLC will be available as a solo purchase too.

The multiplayer modes will include Ranked, Command, Team Deathmatch, Plunder and Trials. In Ranked mode you’ll play Team Deathmatch and earn ranks, starting with Bronze III. Should you get to Bronze I you’ll enter the Qualifiers, where you’ll need to win a certain number of matches to get to Silver. Failure will see you having to earn the points to the qualifiers again. The ranks go up to Diamond.

Command is a bit like a domination mode where different points have to be captured and held. The best contributing player on the team will be come Captain, and they will have access to cheaper in match items, faster heal times, and more health while downed. Beating a Captain will earn other players more points. The Trials mode will have players face off against NPCs, but to get high scores you’ll have to use specific mechanics. There are 10 trials in total with different difficulties for each. The Plunder mode also makes its return to the multiplayer.

Cinema mode will be implemented in Uncharted 4’s multiplayer too so you can create footage. The road map for multiplayer content has been detailed by Naughty Dog too, with weapons, maps, modes, and items being added regularly through to Spring 2017.

  1. Sooooo disappointed about the fact that co-op isn’t coming until the autumn.

  2. Free*

    *PS+ subscription required

    • As is multiplayer on almost every other game, so taken as granted. See also: Xbox

    • To be fair, PS+ is more or less the norm nowadays and it may have just been Sony going “Hey, listen, don’t suppose ya willing to put it behind PS+?”.

  3. This is such a great move from Naughty Dog, especially compared to most AAA games these days.
It shows a lot of confidence in their product, too. Hopefully others will follow suit in the future.

  4. Only thing it’s missing is splitscreen.

  5. Who gives a F about Uncharted MP? I’m here for the SP only.
