What We Played #255: Overwatch, Uncharted 4 & Pokémon Picross

I’ve found myself just a little bit hooked on picross over the last couple of months. The grib-based picture puzzles have some of the same mental hooks as sudoku, as you try and use logic to deduce what goes where, but you end up with a nice little picture at the end of it all.

On the Nintendo 3DS, it’s been Pokémon Picross which, despite the annoying free to play elements, I’m returning to each day to collect a few more picrites and unlock each new area. Last weekend, I also finished off the harger Mega Picross puzzles in The Legend of Zelda Picross, which was where I went when Pokémon was blocking my path artificially. I guess I need to find some more picross games to fill that void.

However, the big thing that I’ve been playing with this past week has been the HTC Vive. I had hoped to finish our review content by now, but that will have to wait until next week and you’ll have to make do with my earlier impressions. There is, after all, an awful lot to talk about with a system such as this, and so I hope you’ll all come and read about it – I know most of you aren’t in the market to buy one, that’s for sure!

Jim’s had a varied blend of games in his console this week, as he dialed down the difficulty to be able to get through The Evil Within and make it easier appreciate Shinki Mikami’s dark creations without too much of the sluggish combat getting in the way.

Overwatch was there to act as a bright and chirpy contrast, and it reeled him in for match after match. You can read his review here, and see that he had a lot of fun with it. Miguel’s also been playing Overwatch but, taking a leaf out of the aforementioned review, he’s trying to wait for his friends to get the game so they can team up. Beyond that, his time has been spent playing Duelyst and Atelier Sophie, and greatly enjoying both.

Tuffcub finished off Uncharted 4, but that joy has been tempered by tearing a muscle and ending up in buckets of pain. Dom’s also been playing Uncharted 4, alongside more Fire Emblem Fates and working towards a review of One Piece: Burning Blood. It’s helped to distract him from the fact he is still without internet.

Dave’s also been playing an Uncharted game (the first one in this case) and Fire Emblem Fates, but the reviews on his plate took him to Planet Robobot with Kirby, and he then landed in Manhattan, where he’s been playing TNMT: Mutants in Manhattan. You can find out if that’s any good next week.

Aran’s was somewhat disappointed by the final stretch of Lumo, which soured his review, but has since turned to playing Soul Axiom, but can’t tell you anything more. How terribly mysterious of him!

Over to you, now. What have you played?

  1. Well this week has been quite a bit of Black ops 3 and Destiny, some Four Kings Casino and Monday was Rory Mcilroy PGA with Forrest and R1MJAW Wednesday was Division with Forrest Toutski and Zerka for a short while, tonight should be GTA with R1MJAW Forrest and Heedbaw.

  2. Forced myself to finish off the Black Ops 3 story – what an absolute crock! Not as bad as Blops2 but not much better, although TBF I wasn’t expecting much different as the Treyarch trend has been solidly downhill. Criminal waste of Starbuck, and Stabler was just Stabler in a cyborg suit :(

To cleanse the palate I had a second attempt at picking up Uncharted 4. So far so good…

  3. Been playing GTA V on PS3 for the past few weeks. About to complete it today. Kinda rushed the last 10-15 missions due to the me wanting to find out more about the plot and well, it is a damn good plot. Doing C.

Dislike the missing car in garage glitch. Makes me hestiate about customising cars but i should reaserach more about it.

  4. A few rounds of PGA with Forrest and Pixel.
Lots and lots of Binding of Isaac Afterbirth.
A bit of Diablo here and there.
    Some more Doom.
Got a bit further in Life Goes On: Done to Death.

  5. I got the platinum out of TTR: WT earlier in the week as well as getting my 7000th trophy but that wasn’t in TTR.
I’ve also finished the marvelous UC4 on hard and started smashing my way through crushing, which seems to be very easy with some of the game cheats on.
Also Life Goes On: Done to Death and a bit of PES.

    • Also I forgot to mention I got very excited about the PES 2017 announcement in the last few days but seems to evaded all headlines here. Never mind I guess FIFA seems to be the only real selling football game where PES is head and shoulders above it. :-)

  6. I completed Uncharted 4, loved every moment. Fortunately i didn’t experience most of the bugs that others suffered with, apart from one time when i rope-swung and landed and got stuck inside a concrete column and had to restart from the checkpoint. I only lost about a minute of progress, including reloading time so no biggie.
It took me 26.22 hours on moderate and i took 2GB of photos while grabbing a massive 18% of the trophies.

  7. The Division and it’s latest update sucked me in again, as it adds quite a bit of new activities, also outside the Dark Zone. And suddenly it got so much easier to get better gear, so I’m equipped with more and more of that special green stuff. Was mostly playing with a friend, but harvesting the highest DZ bracket 201+ was seriously impeded by that damn voice chat bug they still didn’t solve.
I even neglected Driveclub challenges and Uncharted 4 for a moment, will get back to these soon.

  8. Was tempted to pick up Overwatch this week but managed to show restraint and will wait until my birthday in a couple of weeks.
Instead, I went back to CounterStrike GO. Given the last couple of weeks have been taken up Uncharted4, it was nice to go back to a multiplayer game :)
