Criterion’s “Beyond Cars” Game Cancelled

EA have announced that a multi sports vehicle game from Criterion which was revealed at E3 2014 has been cancelled. The project, codenamed “Beyond Cars”, was to feature jetskis, helicopters, boats, wing suits, and other methods of plummeting down mountains at speeds that would make your grandmother have kittens.

“While they’ve moved on from the previous project they’ve spoken about and aren’t pursuing it, they are continuing to build new ideas and experiment with new IP for EA, in addition to continuing to collaborate with other EA studios,” explained an EA representative.

Criterion are also developing the PlayStation VR X-Wing missions for Star Wars Battlefront.

  1. Ah no! That is genuinely bad news and incredibly disappointing, I think a lot of us were firmly behind the concept as we all know Criteron do racing and crashing extremely well. I didn’t realise they were working on X-Wing VR though, every cloud eh.

    • Haha, im enjoying the Steven rages. Just for clarity, what happened?

      • EA decided to take the Activision school of milking and we will see many developers get forced to do Star Wars. That and there seems to not be many interesting racing games this gen.

        And because i want Burnout to be back to what i played of Burnout 3’s demo years and years ago.
