The First Episode Of Life Is Strange Goes Free Tomorrow

Just play it, already.

Easily one of the best received new games of last year, Life is Strange has really propelled Dontnod into the spotlight. Starting tomorrow, 21st July, you’ll be able to download and play the first episode of the five part series for free, and do so whethere you’re playing on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Mac or PC.

The series tells the story of Max Caulfield, who wakes up in class one day having had a nightmarish vision of Arcadia Bay being torn up by a tornado, only to discover that she has a new ability to manipulate time. As you investigate the disappearance of a girl, alongside Max’s hell raising best friend Chloe Price, you alter a branching narrative that hinges on every decision that you make, letting you rewind time repeatedly in order to see the consequences of your potential actions.

Perhaps my favourite game of last year, it really is fantastic and well worth giving a try if you haven’t already.

  1. I think I’d also make this my favourite game of last year, except that I played it this year :) Absolutely wonderful news, everyone should download this and if you don’t play it straight away keep it for a rainy day so that you can indulge in the melancholy and soak up the great story and really excellent characters.

  2. Couldn’t agree more, I thoroughly enjoyed this game from start to finish. You’d be mad not to give the first episode a go now, at the very least

  3. Very good, was thinking about this for a while, will definitely give it a go. Good, except for the fact they just want to lure me into buying all other episodes… ;o)

  4. Been meaning to buy it, but I know if I do it won’t be played for ages because of the backlog. Will give ep 1 a run to see if I can get warmed up with it.

  5. I thoughly enjoyed the game. Haven’t finished the last episode yet. Its easily one of the best games I’ve played.

  6. I found this game a bit hit and miss. I don’t know whether it was me, but I found the frame rate in episode one to be very jarring. It seemed like it was skipping frames and ended up giving me a headache. The following episodes were fine and didn’t seem to suffer that issue. However I really didn’t like the final episode, and because of that I never went back to it. Certainly worth a shot especially now it’s free.
