Video: Highlights From Our First 10 Hours With No Man’s Sky

We’re about 10 hours into No Man’s Sky now – a little bit more than we were with the first impressions that went live as the embargo lifted this morning – and we’ve explored quite a few systems, got into a few scrapes with random space pirates, and have found the first few hints of an underlying story.

We’ve put together a video of some of the highlights from this time, from planetary exploration to blasting off into space. Just be warned to switch off about a minute before the end if you’re worried about even minor spoilers. It’s one of the coolest things I’ve seen so far and I couldn’t help but include it.

  2. The sense of exploration of the unknown is wonderful. How is the menu/inventory system? Some reports saying it’s clumsy but to me it looks very similar to Destiny’s menu.

    • Are those mutually exclusive? Destiny’s menu system is pretty damn clumsy at times. This is the same kind of analogue stick cursor control and tiles of items and stuff, which is fine, except that you only have limited space and are called upon to dip in to recharge your gear, deflector shields – even mid battle! – and so on.

      • Well, i haven’t played Destiny since completing the original ‘story’ campaign but i thought the menu was pretty slick at the time. I guess i’ll have to wait and see – but i did notice some folks switching into menu for repairs mid-battle and it didn’t seem to phase them too much so i presume it becomes more familiar/intuitive with time.
