SportsBarVR Joins The PlayStation VR Launch Line Up

Now I am not a fan of sports bars, or sports. Or bars for that matter, not really one for drinking, but this does look like it could be a lot of fun, and perhaps a good way to unwind after a hard day at work.

This game looks very similar to Pool Nation VR, which is out on Vive, and that’s because… it’s actually the same game. Writing on the PS Blog, they explain that it brings “everything great about that game, plus a whole new truckload of features into SportsBarVR.” Pool Nation has grown a lot since launch, and the reason why it’s now called SportsBarVR is that it includes not just pool, but darts, air hockey, skeeball, shuffleboard, chess and checkers, with more games to come.

All of this will be coming back to Pool Nation VR on Vive for free, the devs have confirmed, but we’ll have to wait and see if that game is also rebranded. Thanks to the use of room scale VR on Vive, that lets you walk around freely within the play area, and having eight player multiplayer instead of six on PSVR, that will almost certainly still be the best version of the game.

  1. Seems good, but I have to be honest, I assumed from the title that it would be a way to watch actual sports in VR (even on the giant cinema display) and now I’m slightly disappointed.

  2. Love the authenticity of the beer bottles and chairs – being thrown across the table! :)

  3. Maybe another VR title for me then. I was having doubts about me fulfilling my PSVR order but I think I’ll keep it now.
