A recent investor call for EA has briefly touched on the subject of remasters, a market that EA has completely ignored and has recently as flatly denied they would ever do them, “We’re a company that is focused on delivering for the future,” said EA’s Peter Moore two months ago. “I was asked a question once [about remasters and I said] it’s just not what we do.
That stance seems to have softened in the last few weeks. “If there’s a world where there are games that we have in our catalogue that players really want to play in a remastered variety and we believe that we can add the kind of enhancements that make that worthwhile for a player, then we will do that,” said EA’s Andrew P. Wilson.
However, he did say that he had “Nothing to announce today” but they are “getting lots of requests right now,” so that Mass Effect Trilogy remaster might just happen if you badger EA enough. Get tweeting!

Yep, there is no modern day SSX3 (or tricky), these were unique games, I would buy a PS4 port or a HD remaster in a heartbeat.

I am doubtful Mass Effect will be remastered as Bioware kinda has it’s hands full. They will be focusing on Dragon Age after Mass Effect or focus on a new IP and beyond just a graphical update, EA wouldn’t be doing much. I feel that EA are being wise by focusing on new stuff and sequels then remasters. It could really get out of hand to the point where franchises just die off as well, it’ll be easier to rerelease stuff instead of new stuff.
Personally, I’ll just keep the games I love instead of wanting remasters. The flaws and quirks of each game adds to it. It is also a good reminder of gaming from that time period.

Remasters are usually farmed out to other companies – Naughty Dog didn’t remaster Uncharted.

I’m not particularly interested in EA doing any remasters to be honest. Quite a few of their games are on Backward Compatibility and look great. I can’t see much point in lashing out extra money to play games already available to me, and it’s the same on PC too. I guess it may be worth them doing the Mass Effect series for PS4, ahead of Andromeda coming out, otherwise I’d rather they focus on new titles as they have been doing. Thankfully just about every other developer and publisher has stopped arsing about with remasters from last gen.
