Not everyone agrees with me when I say that Uncharted 4 has one of the best multiplayer components of 2016. The fluid combination of movement and gunplay goes hand in hand with various design choices that carry over from The Last Of Us. Compared to previous entries it feels like a complete refresh, turning each online battle into its own mini blockbuster.
As always, when a series undergoes such a substantial makeover, there are those left pining for what it once was. Since Uncharted 4 launched earlier this year, fans have been harassing Naughty Dog for Classic Mode, a playlist that sheds all the fancy new features for something much more simplistic.
That’s exactly what Naughty Dog has given them in its latest game title update. A new “Beta Test” playlist has been added to the current rotation, allowing plunderers to sample Classic Mode and submit feedback.
Naughty Dog really hasn’t copped out with this new mode either. The in-game radar and store menu have vanished alongside mysticals, sidekicks, and player revives. In their own words, this mode will focus purely on Uncharted’s movement and combat. It’ll be interesting to see what impact it has on the game’s current playerbase and whether Naughty Dog adds it to the rotation after this testing period.
For those completely turned off by competitive multiplayer, there’s still Uncharted 4’s online co-op to look out for. Hopefully we’ll get updates and an ETA before the end of year.

Completely agree with you, Jim. I’ve spent way too many hours on the multilayer, ever since I finished the campaign.
This will be interesting, though. Could possibly sort the men/women from the boys/girls… ;-)
