We missed out on posting this last night when it went live, but Steam’s kicked off their own Black Friday/Autumn Sale. As usual for Steam sales, it feels like practically everything is on offer all at once, so Steam are highlighting a few particular offers each day – they’ve long ago stopped doing daily deals, so all of these prices are locked for the duration.
Some of the standout deals include being able to pick up a Steam Link box for £16 and stream PC games through your house, getting a Steam Controller for under £30, or bundling the two together for under £40.
The games that have been higlighted today include Cities: Skylines for £5.74 – and with the Natural Disasters DLC out next week, now’s as good a time as ever – the stunningly pretty Abzu for £7.49 and Fallout 4 for £13.19.
Of course, there’s tons and tons of offers, so just mooch around the store and let us know if there’s anything that catches you eye as a great deal in the comments.
Aside from that, nominations for the inaugural Steam Awards have opened, allowing you to put games forward in some fairly unconventional categories.

What are people’s opinions on the Steam Link and Controller? I haven’t heard great things about the controller, but I think the Link would be really useful. I’m not sure how well it would work over wifi though, is ethernet a must?

I didn’t get on with the Steam controller at all, the triggers feel stiff, the buttons feel cheap and are noisy. I though the right trackpad was weird, instead of stopping when you lifted your thumb off there was a bit of momentum, a bit like a trackball. Its probably an individual thing but I much prefer an analogue stick and there’s no substitute for a mouse! If you want a living room controller get yourself one of those new DS4 wireless adapters, I can’t sing it’s praises enough :)

I’m tempted as well by some kind of device that will allow me to play my pc games in the living room. Is that what the steam link is?

Yup, it effectively streams your PC to you TV.
Thanks for the advice Ron, I still prefer to use the DS3 on my PC, so I don’t think the Bluetooth will work.

Why is it called Black Friday then? That’s false advertising. It’s BlackFridaySaturdaySundayMondayandTuesday. Or BFSSMT.
As for Steam, I’ll look next year. With luck, I’ll have a system that can run most games by then.
I probably would get the DS3/4 if it works and only use it for certain games. E.g. Dragon Age Origins on PC, I would use Mouse and Keyboard as it’s more tactical then action. Where as, Skyrim, I would use a DS3. That and a bazllion mods.
Surprised City Skylines is that cheap or am i mistaking that for another game that was recently reviewed here?
F4, I would be tempted to get but it would very much depend on the total cost of the DLC. I am likely to force myself to put a £20 limit on all DLC along with the cost of the game. I don’t like the idea of essentially spending an entire game’s price on DLC. Drives me crazy when I don’t have DLC as it makes the game feel incomplete. Bit silly but tis something that affects me.
Also, Steam Awards are a thing.
