Doom Free Update 5 Adds A New Mode And Bots In Preparation For Bloodfall

The content updates keep rolling for Doom, and today’s release of Free Update 5 brings some nice new features for everyone to play with, ahead of next week’s Bloodfall DLC release.

The addition of Bots for Team Deathmatch and Deathmatch modes will be music to the ears of anyone with fond memories of playing bot matches in Quake III’s glory days, but they can’t handle the new Infernal Run game mode. This has you fighting over a ball – actually a slimy eye – and try to take it to score in the other team’s goal. It’s a variation on Capture the Flag gameplay, and looks like it has most in common with the Uplink mode from modern Call of Duty games.

Multiplayer ranks now go up to Echelon 11, and reaching that landmark will unlock the new DOOM Marine Armor (Praetor Suit). That armour is also available in SnapMap, which gets a bunch of new elements from the campaign to play with and the Lazarus Lab modules and props.

Last but by no means least, there’s double XP running from now until 5PM UK time on Monday 12th December.
