Gears Of War 4 February Update Adds Maps & Valentine’s Day Event

I’ve been pretty impressed with the rate at which Gears of War 4 has grown since release, with regular updates that add content and try out interesting things, such as the recent addition of cross-platform play. February sees The Coalition looking out for all the romantics and lovebirds out there.

Starting next week on February 10th, you’ll be earning new Gear Packs, there’ll be Valentine’s themed bounties, and Torque Bow Tag has been added to the game in honour of the mischievous little god of love, Cupid.

There’s two maps being added, with Impact Dark a remix of Impact that shrouds the map in darkness and smoke, forcing the action to closer quarters.

And then there’s the remake of War Machine.

They also preview some upcoming features for the spring and summer. In the more immediate future, that’ll see pre-game lobbies for Core and Competitive multiplayer, and further down the line there will be more legacy characters, a new “inconceivable” difficulty and Iron Man mode for the story and Horde, level 6 skills for all class skills, more skills for existing classes, new achievements to gun for, and more.

  1. Why anyone would a even more difficult Horde mode is beyond me, but the maps are great if a little familiar, and looking stunning in 4K HDR.
