Target May Have Just Leaked Middle Earth: Shadow Of War

Rumours have been about that Warner Bros Interactive has been working on a sequel to Middle Earth: Shadow Of Mordor, the open world title set in the Lord Of The Rings universe. The company is also scheduled to announce something on March 8th, with some being of the opinion of a new Batman title and others backing the next Middle Earth title. American superstore Target may have just spoiled the surprise as a listing for Middle Earth: Shadow Of War has appeared on the store’s website.

When you click through to you can read the item description, and it suggests you’ll be doing more than slaying Orcs.

Go behind enemy lines to forge your army, conquer Fortresses and dominate Mordor from within. Experience how the award winning Nemesis System creates unique personal stories with every enemy and follower, and confront the full power of the Dark Lord Sauron and his Ringwraiths in this epic new story of Middle-earth.

In Middle-earth: Shadow of War, nothing will be forgotten.

It’s likely we’ll see an evolution of the Nemesis system and if you’re forging an army that may mean having people you command to carry out orders. As you can see from the shot above there’s a regular edition and a Gold Edition, which Target has helpfully detailed in the item description too.  The Gold Edition will apparently feature four expansions and something called the Gold War Chest, which could be special weapons and items.

• Slaughter Tribe Nemesis Expansion
• Outlaw Tribe Nemesis Expansion
• The Blade of Galadriel Story Expansion
• The Desolation of Mordor Story Expansion
• Gold War Chest
• Over $125 in total value

It’s likely Target will be forced to remove the page by Warner Bros Interactive soon, but if you wanted a new Middle Earth title you’re pretty much guaranteed to get it.

From the heady days of the Mega Drive up until the modern day gaming has been my main hobby. I'll give almost any game a go.

  1. One of my favourite games on the PS4 so this will no doubt be a definite buy. Nemesis system was just so much fun and unique.

  2. Yes please i’ll take that.

  3. Hopefully then can execute a good ending & boss fight. The only disappointment about shadow or mirror was the boss fight & story, such a build up to a mediocre ending

  4. One of my favourites of recent years, I’m guessing this will be on it’s way around the usual Xmas release period. I’d rather they did a different superhero than another batman game though. A Green Arrow tie in would be good.

  5. They need to really up their quality when it comes to final bosses. SOM’s final boss was very lacklustre and cheap. Worse, the game had a valid combat system yet they went with what they went with!

I do hope it’s all of Mordor and filled with a ton of content. Hopefully, they are allowed to use more stuff from the Lore instead of having to work within the confines of the Jackson films and stretching it out to where they can.

  6. I’ve had the first game for a couple of years and only ever played a few hours. Tried it again yesterday and Im loving it to this is music to my ears.

  7. First one was silly amounts of fun. And featured both Bender _and_ Hermes from Futurama. Or at least the voice actors anyway.

I’m just disappointed they haven’t gone for Middle Earth: There’s Been a Mordor!

But then I _am_ easily amused. (Other Mordor/Murder puns are probably available)

  8. I put in a good 8 hours into Shadow of Mordor, but just couldn’t get into it.

  9. Not a huge fan of Lord of the Rings (and the Hobbit movies were atrocious) but I absolutely loved Shadow of Mordor, strangely.

Hope we also get a sequel to the Mad Max game. That was just as good if not better.

  10. What,no one moaning about how Target leaked the release of the game? :)
