Sleeping Dogs Movie In The Works With Donnie Yen To Star

It appears that one of the next games to receive the Hollywood treatment will be United Front’s Sleeping Dogs, and Donnie Yen is going to be a part of it. The producer Neal Moritz is heading the project and he does know a thing or two about getting action titles to the big screen, having worked on the likes of The Fast & Furious franchise, The Jump Street movies, and the Total Recall remake. He was also an executive producer on the new Preacher TV series, and going by IMDB Mr Moritz is also going to be working on the Sonic The Hedgehog movie.

It hasn’t been confirmed as to what character Donnie Yen will play, be it Sleeping Dogs’ main protagonist Wei Shen or a member of the criminal underworld. While Wei Shen would be the obvious conclusion when it comes to age Donnie is in his 50s while Wei is portrayed as being in his mid to late 20s. Donnie Yen does have the skills to play the character but maybe the movie could be set years after the events of the game, making it a sequel of sorts. Because we all know Sleeping Dogs deserved a sequel.
